Holiday Shimmer

Hi Lovies,

With Christmas and NYE just 2 weeks away, I am getting my holiday looks together. Normally for Christmas I spend it with family inside so I don't get too dressed up. But I still like to have a bit of a festive flare to my look while still remaining comfy. I want to wear something that says holiday and anything with shimmer, sparkle or metallic is the way to go. As I mentioned in my previous post, Simply Be has been bringing their A game for holiday inspired pieces this season. This Choker Neck Jumpsuit surprisingly caught my eye when I was browsing the site. As you know I don't really wear jumpsuits but this was one I wanted to try. I loved the shimmery metallic fabric that had the festive feel I was looking for. The choker detail and v-neckline added a touch of sexy and femininity that I love. Not to mention how comfortable and stretchy the fabric was, I could wear this all night and be just fine. The cropped leg design is so on trend and allows you to show off whatever fabulous shoes you choose to pair with it. This is a very different look for me but I am looking forward to giving  them Holiday Shimmer this Christmas.

Winter Party Wear with Simply Be

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to holiday dressing, I have my favorite brands that are my go tos. Every season they bring all the festive goodness that I am looking for. Simply Be is one of those brands that has been killing it with their holiday fashion. If you remember last year, I rocked a few of their dresses and they were huge hits! (See here and here). This year they dropped a bunch of Winter Party Wear that will have you looking glitz and glam. This is the time of the year that I go all out and want to wear something that is a show stopper. So of course I had to choose something that was colorful as well as sequins, why not? This Ombre Sequins Swing Dress literally had my jaw dropped when I saw it on the site because all of my holiday dreams were made. This dress is just a spectacle of sparkly goodness with the different ombre sequins. The flattering swing shape made it easy to wear and gave it great movement. While this dress is super glam, I can totally dress it down a bit with a moto jacket and booties and still achieve a winter party look. You will definitely be showing off a bit of leg in this number as it is on the shorter side. But if that's a problem for you, there's nothing that a pair of tights can't fix. You will definitely be owning the night in this stunning dress.

Keeping it Casual

Hi Lovies,

If you've been following me for a while then you know I love getting dressed up. I'm that girl that gets dressed up to go to my local bodega! Dresses and skirts have been my jam for the longest time and I just love being super feminine and girly. While that hasn't changed much, if you remember in my previous post, I mentioned how my style keeps evolving. Now I find myself reaching for clothing that is more causal and comfy. Especially during this time of the year when it's colder and you just want to be warm and cozy. Don't get me wrong, I will always be a girly-girl and love getting dolled up in dresses and such but change is good.

Comeback

Hi Lovies!

My goodness it has been a while since I posted on the blog! It feels good to be back and getting into the flow of things again. There are just times that I get very uninspired with the blog and need to recharge to get the creative juices flowing. It happens to us all and it's totally okay to take that time to refocus. For me getting dressed up and feeling pretty is definitely a way to get my fashion vibe going. You already know my obsession with leopard/cheetah print, so when I got this Cowlneck Skater Dress from Avenue I was in love. It fit all my dress needs, it was cheetah print, a skater silhouette and it had a cowl neck that is so perfect for the season. The Avenue has definitely been bringing the heat with their fashion and this dress is a perfect example. Extremely well made, super soft and easy to wear, as well as being lined underneath. By adding their gorgeous Velvet Lace-up Pumps, totally took this look up a notch. The lace-up detail and burgundy velvet was such a sexy touch to the shoe, while the block heel made them easy to walk in. I loved how the mix of the print and texture from the dress and shoes played so well together. Such an elegant and sophisticated look that anyone can pull off. It's safe to say that I  am back and ready to take on the world!

Forever Evolving

700x205 Hi Lovies,

The other day my eldest niece April told me that my style is always evolving. I was actually shocked by her comment because I feel sometimes I'm stuck in a fashion rut. But then I really thought about it, looked back at the past 5 years and how much my style has actually grown and evolved. While I love having a signature style that people identify me with, I love to throw a few curve balls in there once in a while. As of late I have been stepping out of my fashion bubble and I'm truly loving it. Wearing jeans was one of those obstacles for me, no one ever associated me with them. Now if you look in my closet you will see an abundance of them in all kinds of styles and fits. My most recent favorites are from the Rebel Wilson x Angels collection. Her jeans are just amazing quality and the fit is perfection. These Mogul Pull on Jeggings have been in heavy rotation, I love the super skinny fit from thigh to ankle and comfortable 3 button closure waist. There's amazing recovering on these so there's no stretching around the waist or sagging at the knees. Perfect for everyday, to dress up or down, you definitely need these jeans in your arsenal.

Girl with Curves x Dia & Co.

Hi Lovies,

Before I jumped into the world of Plus Size Fashion blogging, I was an avid reader of PS blogs. I would spend hours just reading through them and enjoying how these women, who looked like me, could be so confident with their style. I had my fave bloggers of course that I loved and actually inspired me to start my own blog. Most of these bloggers paved the way in the plus size community and are a constant inspiration to so many women out there. One of my all time favorites is Tanesha  Awasthi from Girl with Curves. Her style is just timeless, classy and sophisticated which I'm all about. She makes everything she wears just look effortlessly beautiful and poised. Till this day I still read through her blog and continue to use her amazing style to inspire my own. So you can imagine my excitement when she announced that she was coming out with her own GWC Collection

Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

Hi Lovies,

In the world of fashion, there can be many rules that society likes to put on it, especially when it comes to age. They feel a woman of a certain age should be wearing clothing that is age appropriate. Now why I may agree with this to a certain extent, I do believe that women should be able to wear whatever makes them feel good. Being an older women in a world that feels fashion is for the young, I like to push the envelope and show the world that age ain't nothing but a number. With my 44th birthday coming up next week, I've never felt so youthful and daring with my fashion. I want to inspire other women like me to break the rules and show the world we can be just as fashionable as the rest of them.

The Perfect Silhouette

Hi Lovies,

Becoming a blogger has definitely helped me understand my body shape and what works best for it. Honestly once you figure that out, shopping and finding clothing for yourself is a breeze. But sometimes the problem with that is you will stick to one kind of silhouette. Even with myself, I like to keep it safe and go with pieces that I know are going to look good on me. As you know as of late I have been stepping out of my comfort zone and expanding my fashion. That's where my Gwynnie Bee subscription comes into play. I love that I have access to a plethora of brands that I might have never tried before and silhouettes that I was hesitant to try. There's no commitment either, if you get an item that doesn't work, you can easily send it back and try some thing else.

Leather Love

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to the Fall, I am all about wearing different fabrics and textures. One of my favorites fabrics to wear is of course leather. Now most of my leather pieces are faux and there's nothing wrong with that. A lot of the faux leather choices that are out there for plus are made very well and look just as good as the real. Another thing I love about leather is how versatile it is. Most people associate it with being edgy but it can also be very feminine as well. I like the best of both worlds and decided to incorporate them together to create this look which I call Elegantly Edgy. I love a good print and if you've been following me for a while then you know I am obsessed with anything animal print. This Giraffe Print Off the Shoulder Top was the perfect pairing for the skirt. The print added some contrast to the look as well as a touch of sexiness.

Fall Brights

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to the Fall, people instantly think of darker color palettes, whether it be makeup, hair or clothing. While I am guilty of that at times, I do like to incorporate brighter colors as well. There's no rules to fashion that you have to transition into darker colors just because the season changed. This gorgeous dress from the Eloquii x Katie Sturino collection is the perfect example of that. Katie is the the style expert for Eloquii and collaborated with them to create a capsule collection of fall essentials inspired by her signature sporty, cool style. When this collection dropped, I instantly fell in love with this dress. The beautiful bright bold floral print is such a show stopper while still giving off a feminine flare. I am all about a smart and polished look, and the collar and tie bow design definitely achieved that. The fit and flare design is super flattering and looks great on so many different body types. Oh did I mention that it also has pockets?! Since the day I wore this dress was unseasonably warm, I paired it with a cute pair of silver heels. But when the colder days start hitting NYC, I can totally rock this dress with a  moto or denim jacket and some cute booties. I am the type of person who makes their wardrobe work for them, not the other way around. So definitely have fun with your style this fall and see how you can add some brighter colors to your wardrobe.

Fall-ing

Hi Lovies,

While we have officially enter Fall, it seems like Mother Nature didn't get the memo. The temps here in NYC are in the 80's for the last week. So for some it may be hard to think about Fall Fashions at the moment. I on the other hand have been seeking out some new pieces to add to my Fall/Winter wardrobe. All my fave brands are pulling out all the stops this season and I've been in fashion heaven. One site that caught my eye recently was Modcloth. If you remember, I wrote a post this past summer on them and how they are all about being size inclusive with sizes XXS-4X. Which is totally amazing since not many brands do that. What I love about Modcloth is how unique their clothing is with their vintage and kitschy vibe. Not to mention how great the quality of the clothing is as well. While browsing their site recently, I was super excited to see so many cute Fall pieces they had. The first thing to catch my eye was this So Sixties A-Line Dress. I'm all about a good dress and this one had me smitten. The beautiful bright orange color in this gorgeous square textured fabric was the perfect autumnal moment. While the princess-seamed bodice, accent-pleated skirt, and waist-cinching side panels added such femininity to the dress. A great all occasion dress that truly is a conversational piece.

Back on Track

Hi Lovies,

After what seemed like 3 weeks of craziness with The Curvy Con, NYFW and just life, I am back! I can now start to get back to my regularly scheduled program. Today I am bringing you one of my looks for NYFW. I normally do not participate in many events during this time but since a lot plus size brands like Addtion Elle, and Torrid had events and fashion shows, I decided to give it a whirl. Now of course during this time, fashion is at a whole new level, people are stepping out in major style and showing out. While I love to see amazing fashion, I kept true to my personal style and wore things that represented me. Since NYFW days can be long, running from show to show and event to event, I wanted to be stylish but also comfortable. This finally gave me the opportunity to wear this gorgeous skirt from the indie brand Obioma. They are a Maryland based company that specialized in beautiful African print pieces. I was first introduced to them during FFFWeek and immediately fell in love with their amazing clothing. I ended up purchasing 2 pieces from them, a dress and this maxi skirt. It was such a show stopper and quite the statement piece with the vibrant blue color and bold print. Since a style like this is pretty timeless, I will definitely be able to wear this skirt for years to come.

Flounce with Me

Hi Lovies,

Now that summer is close to an end, Fall fashion has taken over by storm. I'm not happy to see it go but I am loving what is out there for the new season. What I do love is when a fashion trend or style that I enjoy transitions over to the next season. Ruffles, bell sleeves and anything flouncy was very popular this past summer and I am so glad to see that it's moved on over to Fall. There's just something about a flounce sleeve that takes me back to the 70's. I love how it can make any silhouette look fancy. This Flounce Medallion Dress from the Avenue couldn't make it's way into my closet faster. I totally fell in love with this beautiful medallion print, along with the rustic fall colors made this such a stunner. The bell sleeves and ruffled hem added such drama to the dress, all I wanted to do was spin around in it. Of course I added my own belt to give it more of a structured look. This dress is the perfect transitional piece, perfect for right now with the comfortable crepe fabric. And in the colder months I can easily wear it with tights, boots and a cool jacket. This is definitely a gem in my book.

Vineyards

Hi Lovies,

A few weeks ago me, Bae and 3 other couples went to Warick, NY to check out the wineries up there. I had been dying to go wine tasting for the longest time and was super excited about going. There are quite a few wineries up there but we only visited two, one of which also had beer tasting. The guys were very happy about that. The first winery we stopped at was called Demarest Vineyards, it was so beautiful, and owned by an old retired couple from Italy. Bored with their retirement Francesco got on his caterpillar dozer and cleared his land to plant grape vines. Francesco himself actually does the wine tasting with you in their quaint little store. He's very knowledgeable and proud of his delicious wines. Right outside their store are their rows and rows of grape wines, it was such a beautiful sight to see. Can we say photo op??

Casual Wear with Fit for Me

Hi Lovies,

One thing that I don't really talk about on the blog is active wear, basically because I am allergic to exercising lol! I do not work out, run, or go to the gym, it's not something I like to do. Honestly being a New Yorker and having to take a bus and train an hour into work 5 days a week is exercise enough for me! The funny thing is that I love active wear, there are so many cute plus size options now that are perfect for the everyday. Obviously, you know I love to be dressed up 85% of the time but the other 15% I just want to be comfy but cute. For these times, I like to reach for something that I can just throw on and head out the door to run errands, do grocery shopping, or walking our dogs. When you have a million things to think about in a day, getting dressed shouldn't be one of them.

Romp-Her

Hi Lovies,

This year for me as far as fashion goes has been progressive, I've definitely stepped out my comfort zone. I made a promise to myself that I would give certain trends a chance, or wear things that I normally shy away from. Basically, I told myself to have fun with fashion which everyone should do. Some of the things that I did tackled this year was wearing a jumpsuit, as well as wearing more maxi dresses. Something that was on the top of my list was a romper. For the longest time rompers were not even a thought to me when it came to something I would wear. I would admire women who could pull them off so effortlessly. I for one don't wear shorts (another thing on my list to conquer) so the thought of a romper was a huge no-no. But sometimes it takes one special piece to get you over that hurdle and actually give it a whirl. This Halter Neck Romper from Eloquii was definite game changer for me. The minute I saw it, I knew that this would be the one to change my mind about rompers forever. I loved the off the shoulder design with the added halter which made it so different. The contrast pipping on the white fabric was so elegant looking, and the pockets added functionality to the romper. To give the romper some of my own style and amp up the look, I added a wide band belt to it. It's crazy how one special piece can change the way you feel about something you would never wear. This romper did just that...

Watermelon

Hi Lovies,

I don't know what it is but whenever I go on the Gwynnie Bee site to browse and add things to my virtual closet, I can't help but be drawn to anything with fruit on it. I mean how could you not enjoy a fruit print on your clothes, right? You guys already know that my blog has been flooded with me wearing clothing with some kind of fruit on it. It's safe to say that I am officially obsessed. First time around, I picked out this adorable dress with lemons on it. The second time, I went all out and picked this dress with a menagerie of fruits on it, which totally gave me life. But just when I thought I had reached my height of fruitfulness, this beauty popped up on the site and I fell in love. This Watermelon Print Dress by Corey was everything I could wish for. The whimsical pink watermelon print was so charming and such an eye catcher. The scuba fabric and fit and flare design made this super easy wear for any occasion. The notched neckline and pleating just added to the character of this dress. Oh and did I mention that it also has pocket?! I was all smiles while I had this dress on, it's hard not to be. I can definitely say that this dress is a #BorrownBuy.

Fall on the Brain

Hi Lovies,

I can't believe that there's only 2 weeks left to the summer, it feels like Memorial day was just here. As much as I don't want to see the summer go, I must admit that I've already have Fall fashion on the brain. It's kinda hard not to with all my favorite stores already saturated with pre-fall clothing. During this transitional time, I like to start going through my summer wardrobe and pulling pieces that I can still wear well into Fall. You guys already know how I love to buy clothes that I can wear for several season. This Off the Shoulder Maxi Dress from Roaman's is definitely one of those items that I will be wearing. It's perfect for the last days of summer with the lightweight fabric and feminine off the shoulder style. I love the button front design and bold print of the dress, along with the maxi length which is super flattering. The neutral colors of the print make it perfect to wear in the fall. I can see myself wearing this dress with a denim jacket and a pair of ankle booties when the weather gets cooler. When you have options like this for the upcoming season, it makes letting go of the Summer just a little easier.

One Style, Three Ways: Eloquii Maxi Split Back Shirt

728x90 | Spring Refresh 5.1

Hi Lovies,

Recently, Gwynnie Bee asked me to be a part of their "One Style, Three Ways"' feature that they post monthly on their blog. This feature is so fun and I was lucky enough to have participated 2 other times (see here and here). If you're not familiar with this feature, Gwynnie Bee chooses 3 women to style the same piece. It's great to see the different styles between the 3 women and what they come up with. This time around we were asked to style this Eloquii Maxi Split Back Shirt. This is definitely something I wouldn't gravitate towards at first glance. While I am a sucker for a white button shirt, I was a little intimidated by this one. Until I received the top in the mail and that all changed. I immediately fell in love with how delicate it was, super comfy and easy to wear. The split back and long line design added such an edgy twist to the classic white shirt. While the sheer fabric made it perfect for the summer. This shirt has endless style possibilities!

1920's Chic

Hi Lovies,

I've said it many times that I was born in the wrong era, while I love being a 70's baby, my heart belongs to a different time period. I long to have been around when women only wore dresses, petticoats and corsets. Besides wanting to be Laura Ingles from Little House on the Prairie, I was also fascinated with the 1920's. It was the decade in which fashion entered the modern age and women abandoned restrictions. All the glitz and glam of that time period and the clothing was just amazing. Cloche hats, flapper dresses, over the top accessories and drop waists were such iconic fashion for that time. When I saw this Tie Neck Drop Waist Dress, I was immediately transported to the 1920's. The gorgeous bold turquoise color along with the ruffled sleeves and hem was just stunning. The tie neck added such a cute and dainty appeal to the dress as well as the tie waist for added structure. I got so many compliments on this when I wore it, such a great all occasion dress. So if you're a fan of 1920's fashion, then you want to have this dress in your closet.

Ruffled Maxi

Hi Lovies,

I have discussed many times on my blog how I can be a creature of habit with my fashion. You get comfortable with what works and don't step out the box to try something new. Lately I have been giving a few fashion trends a try and loving them. You guys know I take any opportunity to show off my legs, whether it be a skirt or dress, I prefer them to be at the knee length. So that means maxi dresses or skirts were outta the question in my book. I always admire women who could pull them off so gracefully without looking like an old lady lol. Well guess what?, I am one of those women now. This summer I've tried a few maxi dresses and love how they look on me. Since I am taller they look great on me and they suit my body type well. This Printed Maxi Dress from Sangria has definitely converted me. The vibrant floral color is just beautiful and perfect for summer. I love that it gives me a hint of sexy with the wrap plunge neckline. The chiffon type fabric is easy to wear even on the hotter days and adds a delicacy to the dress while still remaining feminine with the ruffled hem. Great for those summer weddings or special occasions. So if you're looking for a dress that makes a statement and want to venture into maxi dresses, then look no further!

The Golden Hour

Hi Lovies,

If you're following me on social media, then you know I was in Atlanta for the TCF Style Expo. I had the best time, it was such a good conference. Stay tuned for a vlog of the trip soon to come. Atlanta is definitely a great city and when they say "Hotlanta" they really mean it. The whole weekend was hot and humid and pushing my hair to the limit. While packing for the trip I knew that I wanted to look chic but also be comfy and cool. Saturday was one of the hottest days so I reached for the coolest outfit I had. My obsession with off the shoulder/peasant style dresses hasn't stopped and this Off the Shoulder Embroidered Sleeve Dress (Currently $24!!) from the Avenue was a saving grace that day. The sleeves on this dress were such a show stopper, with the beautiful embroidery bell style. Loved the comfy fabric that kept me cool throughout the day. While this may be too short for some, I actually liked it, I take any chance to show off my legs! I can see myself wearing this well after summer as well with a pair of jeans underneath for a funky twist. It's just a great dress for the season that looks good on just about anyone.

A Diamond in the Rough

Hi Lovies,

There are times that you go on a website just "browse" with no intention of buying anything. I do that a lot, I browse, fill my cart up with stuff but never hit the order button. It's sorta like therapy for me I think, something to feel my fashion soul desire lol. Forever 21 is one of those websites that I use to religiously purchase from when I first got into blogging. At the time I was 2 sizes smaller and there wasn't much option as far as brands or sites to shop from. Plus back then, Forever 21 actually had good quality clothes that was true to size. As for right now, F21 is definitely not a store I shop at anymore, the fashion has become very young looking and their sizing has changed to true junior plus. But on this particular day, I found myself on the site just to see what they had as of late. I came across this Stripe Off the Shoulder dress and thought it was super cute. Not to mention the dress was only $11, so even if it didn't work out I didn't spend a fortune on it. Surprisingly enough when I got it home and tried it one, it fit perfectly and looked great on. The ruffle flounce was so flirty and pretty and the blue stripe print gave the dress character. The button front and tie waist added a bit a menswear feel while still remaining feminine. This was for sure a dress that surprised me and have quickly fallen in love with. Forever 21, I might have not given up on you just yet...

Fun with Modcloth

Hi Lovies,

In my 5 years of blogging, it has been such a great pleasure to see how much Plus Size Fashion has evolved. When I first started, I literally only shopped at Forever 21, Torrid and ASOS Curve. While there were a few other brands, like Lane Bryant but they had not caught up to being fashion forward yet.  Now 5 years later and I'm just awed by all the new PS brands that have popped up. It's just great when a brand just gets it and knows how important it is to be size inclusive. Honestly the world would be a better place if more brands did this and realized how important it is for body positivity. Being size inclusive isn't only about being able to walk into any store and finding your size but it's also empowering as well. One brand as of late that gets this is Modcloth, they've been around for a while and I've always loved their stuff. The company was founded by High School Sweethearts Susan Gregg Koger and Eric Koger back in 2002 and has grown so much since then. What I love about the Modcloth site is that there is no separation of straight sizes and plus sizes, everything is together. Everything is available in a full range of sizes  from XXS-4X, which I think is awesome. Not to mention that they have a mixture of straight and plus size models wearing their clothes, A+ to them!

728x90 | Spring Refresh 5.1

Hi Lovies,

The summer is all about having fun and enjoying yourself, whether it be going on vacation, enjoying a day at the beach or a long walk in the park. As for me, my wardrobe has to be fun as well for the summer. Bright colors, bold patterns and prints, anything that will put a smile on my face. Honestly it just makes my day better when my outfit is fun. I've already spoke about how I am obsessed with the fruit trend, well it hasn't stopped. This Fruit Salad Dress from City Chic via Gwynnie Bee just screams fun and playful. This cheerful print is so charming with all the adorable fruit print and vibrant colors. The fit and flare design is so flattering and the sweetheart neckline adds a little flirtiness to the dress. Not to mention how lightweight and easy to wear it is. If you're looking to make a statement this summer then you need this dress in your life. I think it's safe to say that this dress is definitely a #BorrownBuy.

June PopSugar Must Have Box

Hi Lovies,

If you've been following me for a while then you know I am a sucker for a monthly subscription box. I just love getting packages in the mail, it's like Christmas every month lol. My favorite are the beauty ones like The Ipsy Bag, Sephora Play Box and Boxy Charm (check out my video here). But I'm also my fashion ones as well like Gwynnie Bee and Dia & Co. So recently I added another one to my list and it's called the PopSugar Must Have Box. I've been a fan of PopSugar for years and I was super excited when I heard they came out with a subscription box. What I love about this box is that it has a little bit of everything in it, from fashion to beauty and even food! I also love that each month is a themed and the items in the box reflect that theme. Each item is thoughtfully hand-picked by the founder Lisa Sugar and their amazing editors, so you know everything is going to be awesome. Hi Lovies,

When it comes to clothing for the summer, I don't like to invest too much into it. Here in NYC the summer is only 2 months and is over in a flash. So I tend to buy clothes that are budget friendly since they spend a majority of their time in a bin for most of the year. This is when I really utilize my Gwynnie Bee subscription, because it gives me the option of having a fabulous wardrobe with no commitment. I've spoken about GB numerous times here on my blog and have been a subscriber since the beginning. If you've been living under a rock and don't know about Gwynnie Bee, they are a clothing rental subscription service for women sizes 10-32. Subscribers choose from different plans (and prices) depending on how many items they want to have out at a time.  Subscribers browse the collection, select items that they like, select their size (based on size charts for each brand) and put them in their closet. Once a minimum number of items are "closeted," new members are sent a box with their first items, depending on the plan they chose. You can keep the items for as long as you want without commitment or if you really like something, you have the option to buy it at a discounted price. Shipping is super quick and I love getting treats in the mail. When you're done with the items, just pop it into the prepaid envelope they provide you with and drop it into your nearest mailbox, it's as simple as that! Like what you've heard, well this is your chance to join free for 30 days HERE.

Lemon Drop

Hi Lovies,

In one of my older post I discussed how the fruit trend has taken the fashion scene by storm. You can find clothing adorned with different fruit prints which I am all about. If it has fruit on it them I'm buying it. Strangely enough the fruit that I've seen the most lately is the Lemon. Seems like the lemon is the "It" fruit for the season, like this dress I wore via Gwynnie Bee. Today I'm bringing you lemon goodness via Ashley Stewart with this gorgeous Lemon Print Cold Shoulder Dress (currently 50% off!). I first saw this dress on my fellow blogger Nazira in the black version and immediately ran to the website to buy it. Besides the charming lemon print, I fell in love with the frilly cold shoulder design and high collar neckline. The chiffon overlay makes this dress extremely fun and feminine while still remaining sophisticated. This is definitely a dress for the season that you can wear for any occasion.

Pineapples and Pool Parties

Hi Lovies,

This past Sunday was the 3rd Annual Essie Golden Golden Confidence Pool Party and as per usual, it was a great event. If you been following me for a while then you know I attended the previous two years (see here and here). This year it was held at the Room Mate Grace Hotel in the heart of Times Square. The activities took place in their indoor Pool Bar area which was super cool. They had a nice lounge area where you could sit and enjoy some drinks or if you wanted to be by the pool, there was also available seating to chill. The nights events consisted of great music, food, drinks, swimsuit fashion shows, raffles and of course beautiful women of all sizes dressed in gorgeous swimsuits. An event like this wouldn't be complete with out some shopping, there was also a vendor area with brands such as Eloquii, Lane Bryant, and Feminine Funk. I enjoyed myself just kicking it with my girls, having some cocktails, and taking ALOT of pics. If you've never been to this event, I highly recommend putting it on your calendar for next year because it's totally worth it!

Mexican Vibes

Hi Lovies,

As you saw in one of my recent post, I've totally been into the peasant look. I just love how simple and pretty this trend is. Embroidery has also been playing a big part in fashion these days as well which also ties into the peasant trend. It's popping up literally everywhere, like in this Flutter Sleeve Top from Melissa McCarthy Seven7. This chambray top is so cute and feminine, with the flirty ruffle sleeves. The whimsical embroidered birds take a simple top and gives it such character. I love that it also has a tie back feature to give you the option to define your waist. Perfect to pair with a pair of white denim for a causal summer look or with a skirt as I did here.

Taking On Philly With Catherine's

Hi Lovies,

If you follow me on Instagram and watched my stories, then you know I was recently in Philadelphia with Catherine's. I haven't been to Philly probably since I was a child on a school trip so I was super grateful that Catherine's asked me to be apart of this one. Philadelphia has so much history and we were lucky enough to be led around the beautiful City of Brotherly Love by two Philadelphians, Blogger Kellie Brown and Kate O'Brien from the Catherine's team. They had so much fun stuff planned for the next 3 days, I couldn't wait to get started.  What was even more fun was I got to enjoy this trip with 2 of my fabulous blogger babes Jeniese of The Jenesaisquoi and Alex of Learning to be Fearless. Can we say girl's weekend!

Ruffles

Hi Lovies,

Last week was Full Figure Fashion Week and that means tons of events to attend. While this year I wasn't able to attend a lot of them due to work, I was able to go to a few. I love this time of year because bloggers and influencers from all over come to NYC to enjoy this week. I get to see and meet a lot of bloggers that I basically only know via social media. So it's great to finally meet them in person and connect on a personal level. One of my favorite events is the FFFWeek Curvy Expo, it's an awesome way to network with brands, hang with your fav bloggers and of course shop. Not to mention it also gives you an opportunity to dress to impress. I finally got to pull out my Pinstripe Ruffles Wrap Skirt from Eloquii, talk about a show stopper! I loved the exaggerated ruffles on the hem along with the simple pinstripe print. The flattering wrap style just added to this beautiful skirt as well as give it some structure. It's was sophisticated and dramatic all in one skirt while remaining super girly. Definitely the perfect skirt for an event like the Expo, I was overwhelmed with all the compliments I got on it. I can't wait to wear it again!

Dotted

Hi Lovies,

Well mother nature finally realized that it's about to be summer and turned up the heat this weekend. New York summers are literally pure torture, with the heat and humidity, you just want to walk around naked. Now when the temps get up into the 80's and 90's, all I want to wear is nothing but light easy breezy clothing. My go-to are dresses during the summer, it's an easy one and done quick thing to throw on and still looked pulled together. As you guys know I love clothing that can work double duty as well since I do have a 9-5. So finding dresses that I can easily wear to work and then for play are a must. A perfect example is this beautiful dotted shirt dress from Tocca. Now if you remember a few months ago I featured a dress from their exclusive collection with Gwynnie Bee (see here). TOCCA is known for its beautifully wearable pieces that exude a feminine, sexy edge and contemporary beauty products inspired by the Old World. When this dress popped up on the Gwynnie Bee website, I immediately closeted it, so had my name written all over it. I loved the mixture of colorful polka dots which give the dress a whimsical feel. The shirt dress design is super classic making it this dress perfect for work. You already know how I feel about a dress with pockets, and these add such character to the dress. I don't think I'll be returning this dress back to GB, it's definitely a keeper!

Peasant Girl

Hi Lovies,

I was definitely born in the wrong decade, I say this to myself every time I get dressed. I am so drawn to clothing from different periods, like back in Elizabethan times. I loved the huge dresses they had to wear, they were such statements for that time. I also had an unhealthy obsession with Little House in the Prairie as well. As mean as Nelly Olsen was, I wanted all of her clothes lol! Peasant dresses are also one of my favorites as well, I admire the simplicity of them. This Off the Shoulder Crinkle version from Roaman's was definitely a modern twist to the everyday peasant dress. The burnt orange color along with the floral print was such a pretty combination. The delicate ruffle hem and off the shoulder design is so feminine and sexy. This dress is also extremely comfy, loved the way it felt on my body. Great to wear on the weekend for brunch with your girls and with a quick change of your accessories can easily transform into a night look. Peasant dresses are definitely a must for the upcoming summer months.

Floral Jumpersuit

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to my fashion style, I can be pretty predictable. I'm either going to go for a dress or a skirt, those are my signatures. But just like fashion, my style is always evolving or so I try to anyway. Jumpsuits are one of those things that I thought I could never pull off and stayed away from. I loved the way they looked on people and longed to be able to look as good in one. It wasn't until last summer that I actually took the plunge and gave one a whirl. I instantly loved how I looked in it and promised I would wear more of them. Fast forward to last month when I saw my Boo Georgette of Grown and Curvy Woman wearing this amazing Floral Jumpsuit during her trip to Cuba. It was absolutely stunning and perfect for the summer season. The bold colorful print was such a statement while the comfy linen material gave it some delicacy. I loved that it had a elasticized waist with a removable belt to give the jumpsuit some shape. Of course I added my own belt to give the look a little twist of me. This is definitely one of those one-and-done pieces that will have you looking effortlessly chic all summer long.
