2013

Tapestry and Gold

Hi Lovies!

It's hard to believe that 2013 is about to be over, I have to say it was pretty great. I'm so looking forward to what 2014 has to offer and hope that I can continue to be blessed with all good things to come. Since the color gold seems to be synonymous with New Years, I decided that this outfit would be great to post as my last of 2013. The minute I saw this tapestry skater skirt on Forever 21, I knew I had to have it. The tapestry design and the quality of it was amazing. Not to mention it also has pockets, which in my book means everything! It immediately sold out on the website and has become very popular in the plus size blogisphere. I've worn it twice since I've had it, once with a cowl neck sweater and this time with my Gold sheer leopard print top, also from Forever 21. Since it was a cold day when I shot these photos I added my fav cropped blazer with gold trimming from Torrid. I threw on my Sam Edelman pumps, some gold earrings and called it a day!

Leopard on Leopard

Hi Lovies,

My obsession with leopard just seems to continue to grow and grow, I can't get enough of it. So of course when I saw this Leopard Print ASOS Curve Swing dress on Gwynnie Bee, I didn't hesitate to add it to my closet. This dress is just adorable, comfortable and the color just rocks! The first time I wore this dress I paired it with my spiked moto jacket from Forever 21 and loved the look. This time I figured why not add MORE leopard to this outfit and went with my Forever 21 Leopard Utility Jacket. I got this jacket on their big cyber Monday sale for practically nothing and it's awesome. It has a drawstring inside to cinch the waist and the print on it matched the dress perfectly without being too much. I added my Rampage Valorie boots to complete the look. What do ya think??

Foxy in Fur

Hi Lovies,

I have come to realize that every woman should own a fur coat/jacket, whether it be faux or real. I just think they are so elegant, eye catching and can turn any outfit you're wearing up a notch. I happened to score this fabulous Gallery Faux Sable Fur Jacket last year via Nordstrom online. I first saw this jacket on the beautiful Tanesha from Girl with Curves (see here) and I knew I had to have it. It's one of the warmest, softest jackets I've ever owned, I literally want to sleep in it. But amazingly, I've only worn it one other time (see here) and will be making it my business to wear it more often this winter.

Gwynnie Bee Holiday Preview Event

Hi Lovies!

I had the pleasure of being invited to the Gwynnie Bee Holiday Preview event and it was one of the best nights I had in a while! I took my fav blogger boo Jessica Torres from Tiny Red Shoes with me to join in the festivities and also to find out more about Gwynnie Bee.  The event was held at the gorgeous penthouse apartment of the CEO of Gwynnie Bee Christine Hunsicker. She was unfortunately sick that day and had hardly any voice but she had several GB members be hostesses for the evening, one of which was my blogger buddy Sarah from Curvily. The GB team made us totally feel at home and provided the guests with beverages and delicious treats. We also got a sneak peek at some of the new holiday styles that were going to be added to the GB website, as well as try them on. Plus we had the opportunity of being the first to add them to our closets before they hit the public so that was great!. If you follow my blog then you've heard  me speak about GB before but if you haven't, check out my post here about them.

The night was filled with amazing, empowering, and stylish women of all shapes and sizes, most of which were wearing something from GB which was great. It gave everyone a chance to see how some of the pieces fit on different shapes, heights etc.. After seeing some of the clothing on several women and how amazing they look, I immediately added them to my closet lol! They also set up a photo booth for the guests to take silly pics with tons of props and accessories. Me and Jessica had way too much fun in there! After mingling, trying on clothes, eat and drinking way too much wine, they had a few raffles (which I didn't win). They raffled off pretty baubles, GB hooded sweatshirts, and a GB Tote bag, but the grand prize was 3 free months of GB for a current member and new free trial member. But if that wasn't enough, the folks of GB ended the night by giving each and everyone of the guests an amazing door prize of a Jessica Howard Tie Waist Blouson Dress (see here in red)!! I felt like I was on the Oprah Winfrey show, I was so excited with my gift! It was an amazing night and I want to thank the Christine and the Gwynnie Bee team for inviting us to such a wonderful event. Here are my pics from that night...

MYNT 1792 In-store Launch at Blooingdale's

Hi Lovies,

Last week I attended the MYNT 1792 in-store launch at Bloomingdale's event which was hosted by none other than blogger extraordinaire Gabi Gregg of Gabifresh. It was great to be able to see the pieces in person instead of only on their online store. I love the company MYNT 1792 so much, their jackets, bottoms and amazing tops never fail to impress me. MYNT 1792 is a web only company so it's awesome that some of their pieces are now available at Bloomingdale's so you can actually try things on before purchasing anything. The pieces are located on the 5th floor along with all the other plus size designers and lines. Bloomingdale's isn't carrying their complete line but definitely have the essential and trendy pieces from their line. It was a fun mellow night hanging out with some great women as well as my fellow plus size bloggers. They had a DJ playing great music, Proseco and sparking water flowing, as well as a variety of delicious macaroons for the guests. I wore their Berlin Vest to the event that I got from Gwynnie Bee and I loved it. All of their clothing are made so well. Here are the rest of the pics from the event.

Target Spring 2014 Apparel & Accessories Preview

Hi Lovies,

Last week I attended the Target Spring 2014 Apparel and Accessories preview, and I have to say it was quite a treat. We were greeted by the lovely Target staff and given $25 gift cards. As you entered the showroom it was filled with beautiful fashion and accessories. They had live models on decorated platforms to emulate mannequins. All the new spring fashions were pretty, colorful and totally on trend. As well as the shoes, bags and gorgeous jewelry. I have to say that Target is definitely stepping up their game, I could only hope that this trickles over to the plus size line. Here are a few photos from the preview.

Target Holiday House Party Preview Event

Hi Lovies,

Last Tuesday I attended the Target Holiday House Party preview event. It was such a cool event, we got to preview holiday offerings, from fashion and beauty to home decor and grocery. Plus we got a sneak peek at Best.Party.Ever, their pinterest-based collaboration with premier party planner David Stark. Everything was so festive and beautiful, that even the scroogiest of folks would of gotten in the spirit of the holidays. They made the guests feel very welcomed with delicious cocktails, spice hot chocolate and delicious Hors d'oeuvres. As well as having an awesome candy bar for the guest to indulge in. Upon leaving the event, you were given a $25 gift card to Target, which was great, just in time for the holidays!

The Referee

Hi Lovies!

I took these pics a few weeks back and forgot I had them, they got lost in the shuffle of life lol! But I felt the outfit was worthy of an outfit post. I have to say this ensemble totally made me feel like I be a chic referee for a basketball game or something. I love black and white stripes, despite the ridiculous rule that plus size women shouldn't wear stripes...pfttt...funk that!! I love stripes in any shape or form. So when I first tried out this striped tank from ASOS Curve via Gwynnie Bee (see here), I knew I had to have it, especially since it was on sale. I definitely would be getting a lot of wear from this tank, you can do so much with it.

Whatever!

Hi Lovies!

Well fall is officially here and it's time to start pulling out the outerwear! As much as I enjoy the warm weather, I've noticed that I have accumulated quite a few jackets/coats. But my favorite of them all is my ASOS Curve Military Jacket with studded shoulders. I totally didn't get enough wear out of it last year but so plan on rocking this baby more this time around. There's nothing bad I could say about this jacket, it has everything I love. The military style of it, that's so trendy at the moment along with the faux leather sleaves and studs on the shoulder just make it so perfect for the Fall.

Fall Fashion Faceoff #FFfaceoff: Tartan (Plaid) Trend

Hi Lovies!

As you all I know I am not a fan of the fall/winter seasons, so to get myself in the mood I decided to join Kelly's of MasqueMag awesome Fall Fashion Faceoff Challenge! I think this challenge is great because it pushes me to get more involved in the throws of the Fall Fashion. Tartan/Plaid has become a major trend for this season and is spreading like wild fire. I've never been crazy about plaid but I have to say I've seen some cute and fashionable pieces in many of my favorite plus size stores. So I took the plunge and went with this amazing emerald green plaid Moto Jacket from MYNT 1792 via Gwynnie Bee

Skater Girl

Hi Lovies!!

It seems that I've fallen into yet another obsession and that's skater skirts or dresses, I can't get enough of them! They happen to be super trendy at the moment, of any style and material, especially in leather (faux or real). So when I saw this Emerald Skater Skirt from ASOS Curve on Gwynnie Bee, I had to try it. I spoke about Gwynnie Bee on my last post, see here. I had been eyeing it on ASOS for a while but of course I waited too long and it sold out. You can imagine my excitement when I saw that Gwynnie Bee had it available. I have to say this is one of the best skater skirts I've worn, it fits like a dream, it's well made and the color is amazing, plus it comes with the belt. I was so pleased with the skirt that I immediately went to the ASOS website and ordered the black version which is on sale for $24, as well as the red and navy versions.

Ombre and Stripes

Hi Lovies!

I'm really having a hard time letting go of summer, and refuse to get into fall mode. So this weekend, despite the cooler temperatures, I still dressed with summer in mind. I purchased this Ombre hi/low skirt from Forever 21 back in July and have worn it about 3 times, which is a lot for me. I love this skirt and always get compliments when I wear it. I adore the turquoise/aqua color as well as the beige color it transitions into. I wasn't a fan of the whole ombre trend this summer but this skirt definitely made me a fan.

Dots and Stripes

Hi Lovies!

Since summer is coming to a close, I feel very pressured to wear as many of my summer dresses as I can before it gets too cold. I was lucky enough to grab this dress from Modcloth during their huge yearly sale where they are practically giving stuff away. Of course I waited to long to buy stuff and almost all the awesome pieces were sold out in my size (I'll be better prepared next year! lol). But I was very happy to have gotten this very adorable and dainty dress from them. You get the best of both worlds with this piece because it has polka dots and stripes. I'm also totally in love with the color combination, green, black and a peachy color look so great together. To see Modcloth's awesome plus size line, click here.

Signature by Ashley Stewart Career Collection

Hi Lovies!

Back in June when I attended the Ashley Stewart blogger breakfast during FFFWeek (see here), I got to see a preview of some pieces from their A/W 2013 collection. Everything they showed was awesome and on trend for the fall season. AS has totally revamped their fashion and are reconnecting with their target market as well as their growth with social media and online presence. The folks over at Ashley Stewart contacted me and asked if I'd like to participate in their new campaign which consist of a new career collection called "Signature by Ashley Stewart". They asked that I choose 2 items from their Signature collection, mix and match the pieces with accessories, heels, and even treasured items from my own closet to create a unique professional "Desk to Dinner" ensemble that reflects my own personal style. Of course I jumped at the opportunity and was very flattered to have been asked to participate in their campaign.

My Fall Lust List

Hi Lovies!

Now that my favorite season comes to an end (tear!), I am forced to start looking for new Fall clothing. Of course I always hit up my "go to"online stores to see what goodies they have. As I peruse the websites, I noticed that a lot of my favorite trends are being carried over to the Fall season, such as faux leather, stripes, polka dots, military chic, peplum, and animal print to name a few. Even though I love summer, I'm actually looking forward to the upcoming Fall season and with all the amazing things coming, how could I not?! Here are a new things that I've added to my Fall "lust list".

Painted Love

Hi Lovies!

As many of you know, ASOS.com is one of my favorite online stores. My very first blog post, which I did almost a year ago (can't believe I've been blogging a year already!), was about ASOS. I've been shopping with them since 2010 and my very first purchase was this Painted Tulip Bandeau Dress. I loved this dress but the funny thing is I've only worn it one other time! That's what happens when you have too many clothes, you continue to buy more and forget about what you already have. It's a vicious cycle, but I digress and decided to pull this oldie but goody out and strut my stuff in it! I have to say this dress is definitely a show stopper, got a lot of lookers and women complimenting me on how pretty it is. I don't blame them, this dress is totally awesome!

Blossoming Beauty

Hi Lovies!

The summer is coming to an end so quickly so I'm trying to wear as many of my dresses as possible. This gem of a dress I had to have the minute I saw it on eShakti.com. I totally fell in love with the floral print and how happy it made me feel. I decided to wear this dress to an after work happy hour cruise with my Beau and it was a hit! I'm a huge fan of this website and own 3 other things from them which I love just as equally. The best part about them is that you can customize the clothing to your exact measurements for a better fit! This dress as is, comes strapless and the length is below the knees but I decided to add tie-ups at the shoulder and made the length above the knee for a more playful look. I completed the outfit with turquoise  colored accessories which went so well with the colors on the dress.

Bandeau To Make Her Dance!

Hi Lovies!

Well I'm finally back on the my blogging ish! It can be very hard to blog when your photographer has her own buddy career (how dare she! lol). But I'm back, and back with a vengeance! When I first saw this bandeau, I was immediately drawn to it because it was another one of my favorite prints...CAMOUFLAGE! Since I've been trying to push the envelope and step out of my comfort zone, I decided to purchase it with an outfit in mind. Now we all know that denim vest are super trendy and popular this summer, so I paired it this lace back vest from Forever 21 with the bandeau to give me more of a comfortable feel and not be so overly exposed. Also to "camouflage" some of my love handles I wore a skater skirt with a bit of a high waist. I felt the outfit was pulled together, cute and showed just enough skin without feeling like a Hoochie Mama..lol! I also wore my wedge sneakers for a more urban, street look which completed the outfit.

#HonorMyCurves Feature

Hi Lovies!

I'm so excited to I can barely type this post but yours truly has been featured in the July/August issue of Skorch Magazine! I was part of the #honormycurves column written by the wonderful Honor Curves. I was ecstatic when she reached out to me and asked if I would like to be featured in the magazine. If you've never heard of Honor Curves and her #honormycurves movment, its an instagram page where she encourages self love and acceptance of your body, no matter the size, shape or color. #honormycurves has gotten so big, Skorch Magazine asked her to join their team with a monthly column featuring 3-4 girls, asking them what honoring their curves means to them. I'm super grateful to Honor Curves for choosing me as one of the girls to be featured this month! To see the full article on Skorch Magazine click here and to follow the #honormycurves movement you can follow her on instagram here or her twitter page here.

Instagram OOTD's

Hi Lovies!

If you're a blogger, then you know it's not always easy finding someone to take outfit pictures for you. Sometimes you have to rely on your trusty camera phone and take some selfies in the mirror of your outfit of the day. So I've been taking daily OOTD pics at work of my summer looks. If you follow me on instagram, then you've probably seen them but here are some that I've taken over the last 3 weeks.

Summer Nights

Hi Lovies!

Last night after work I attended the NYCurvyCloset plus size shopping event with my niece April. It was 6 of some of my fav bloggers selling their clothing and giving us girls the opportunity to shop their closets! I left there with 2 skirts and 2 tops from the lovely Meaghan of Little Lime Dress for the grand total of $30! (see here for pics) As usual, these events are always fun, you get to mingle and network with your blogger friends. I was also approached by several women that actually recognized me from my blog and told me how much they loved it! It was so surreal and humbling to know that people actually follow my blog and love what I do. Afterwards, me and April went to have some pizza at Two Boots Pizza and took some outfit pics. I was a great summer night fun and hopefully the beginning of many more to come!

Bandelettes: The Chub Rub Killer!

Hi Lovies,

How many of you suffer from the annoying "chub rub" or chafing of the inner thighs for rubbing together  from walking?? I know I do, and it's not a good feeling especially during the hot and humid summer in NYC. I have tried many different remedies to prevent chafing, like using powder, deodorant, wearing shorts etc, but they all failed in one way or another. Up until recently when I came across Tanesha's post from Girl with Curves about this amazing products called Bandelettes.

Wonder Lee 123 Bow Ties

Hi Lovies!

Wednesday night I attended the "Curves at Sea" All White Cruise for FFFWeek and I wore a personalized  bow tie that said "Blogger" made out of a Scrabble board and tiles. I can not tell you how many compliments and admirers I got that night, everyone just loved it so much! So as I promised, I'm letting all my readers and followers know where I got it from and where you can get one too!

FFFWEEK Day 3: "Curves at Sea" All White Sunset Cruise

Hi Lovies!!

FFFWeek is in full swing now and I've been swooning over all the pictures on facebook and Instagram from the different events. Yesterday I attended the "Curves at Sea" All White Sunset Cruise and all I have to say is WOW! It was such a wonderful event, filled with beautiful women of all colors, shapes and sizes! We got to sail around the city and enjoy it's picturesque views well into the evening, ending the cruise with sailing by Lady Liberty. I got to meet more of my favorite bloggers, some that traveled as far as Australia, England, France and Germany! I also got to hang out again with some other blogger that I made friends with at the Ashley Stewart Blogger Breakfast. Not to mention rubbing elbows with the many plus size models that were there, including the beautiful Rosie Mercado from the show "Curvy Girls". It was a night filled with awesome people, dancing, drinking, picture taking, networking and just having fun. Can't wait til next year!

FFFWEEK: All White, Don't Care!

Hi Lovies!

Yesterday was Day 3 of FFFWeek and I attended the "Curves at Sea" All White Cruise. For a lot of us plus size women, wearing white can be challenging, especially with the myth that wearing white makes you look bigger. Since I've been blogging and also reading many of the other inspirational plus size blogs, I've definitely learned to be more body confident and comfortable in my own skin. There shouldn't be any reason not to wear something if you like it. My motto is "if you like it, wear it!" So I welcomed the whole wearing "all white" with opened arms.

FFFWEEK: Ashley Stewart Blogger Breakfast

Hi Lovies,

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the kick off to Full Figured Fashion week, the Ashley Stewart Bloggers Breakfast. This is my first time attending FFFWeek, so it was all new to me, but it was such an experience! Since I got there early, we had to hang in the lobby of the hotel that the event was taking place at but this gave me the opportunity to meet some of favorite bloggers that I have been idolizing since I started blogging almost a year ago. Each and every one of them was unique in their own way, so amazingly sweet and down to earth. It truly felt like I was meeting a celebrity for the first time.

Modcloth "Elegance for All" Pop-up Shop Event

Hi Lovies,

Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending the Modcloth "Elegance for All' Pop-up Shop event. They were celebrating their new plus size collection, which was a total delight! Everything was so prim and pretty, I literally wanted to buy everything I saw but I restrained myself to just one skirt. They were also offering cute little cupcakes and champagne to everyone as well. The place was pack with women swooning over all the gorgeous clothing, chatting, trying on clothes and just enjoying the moment. As for my outfit, I decided to go with a dress that was very Modcloth looking, my white and black polka skater dress from Pay/Half, I paired it with my cropped tuxedo jacket from Forever 21 and my Fringed Booties from ASOS.

Eshakti Promo Code

If you loved this dress (seen here) and tutu skirt (seen here) that I posted on my blog, well they could be yours! The great thing about them is that they do customization on all their clothing. You can send them your measurements for perfect fitting clothing! I own 3 pieces from them and I love each one, really great quality and workmanship goes into every piece. To get the discount, just use the promo code ANEG40NE FOR $40 off your purchase! I'm telling ya, you won't regret it!

Captivating in Coral

Hi Lovies!

When you're a shopaholic (like myself), you tend to forget what you have in your wardrobe due to the abundance of clothing you've accumulated. As I said in a previous post (see here), I recently swapped my winter wardrobe to summer and came across a bunch of dresses I forgot I had. This Lace and Tulle dress being one of them that I bought from ASOS last April. I have to admit I think I wore this dress only once since I bought it and I don't know why? The coral color is amazing and so vibrant, it just screams summer and the fact that it has both lace and tulle is an added plus.
