Fall-ing

Hi Lovies,

While we have officially enter Fall, it seems like Mother Nature didn't get the memo. The temps here in NYC are in the 80's for the last week. So for some it may be hard to think about Fall Fashions at the moment. I on the other hand have been seeking out some new pieces to add to my Fall/Winter wardrobe. All my fave brands are pulling out all the stops this season and I've been in fashion heaven. One site that caught my eye recently was Modcloth. If you remember, I wrote a post this past summer on them and how they are all about being size inclusive with sizes XXS-4X. Which is totally amazing since not many brands do that. What I love about Modcloth is how unique their clothing is with their vintage and kitschy vibe. Not to mention how great the quality of the clothing is as well. While browsing their site recently, I was super excited to see so many cute Fall pieces they had. The first thing to catch my eye was this So Sixties A-Line Dress. I'm all about a good dress and this one had me smitten. The beautiful bright orange color in this gorgeous square textured fabric was the perfect autumnal moment. While the princess-seamed bodice, accent-pleated skirt, and waist-cinching side panels added such femininity to the dress. A great all occasion dress that truly is a conversational piece.

Back on Track

Hi Lovies,

After what seemed like 3 weeks of craziness with The Curvy Con, NYFW and just life, I am back! I can now start to get back to my regularly scheduled program. Today I am bringing you one of my looks for NYFW. I normally do not participate in many events during this time but since a lot plus size brands like Addtion Elle, and Torrid had events and fashion shows, I decided to give it a whirl. Now of course during this time, fashion is at a whole new level, people are stepping out in major style and showing out. While I love to see amazing fashion, I kept true to my personal style and wore things that represented me. Since NYFW days can be long, running from show to show and event to event, I wanted to be stylish but also comfortable. This finally gave me the opportunity to wear this gorgeous skirt from the indie brand Obioma. They are a Maryland based company that specialized in beautiful African print pieces. I was first introduced to them during FFFWeek and immediately fell in love with their amazing clothing. I ended up purchasing 2 pieces from them, a dress and this maxi skirt. It was such a show stopper and quite the statement piece with the vibrant blue color and bold print. Since a style like this is pretty timeless, I will definitely be able to wear this skirt for years to come.

Flounce with Me

Hi Lovies,

Now that summer is close to an end, Fall fashion has taken over by storm. I'm not happy to see it go but I am loving what is out there for the new season. What I do love is when a fashion trend or style that I enjoy transitions over to the next season. Ruffles, bell sleeves and anything flouncy was very popular this past summer and I am so glad to see that it's moved on over to Fall. There's just something about a flounce sleeve that takes me back to the 70's. I love how it can make any silhouette look fancy. This Flounce Medallion Dress from the Avenue couldn't make it's way into my closet faster. I totally fell in love with this beautiful medallion print, along with the rustic fall colors made this such a stunner. The bell sleeves and ruffled hem added such drama to the dress, all I wanted to do was spin around in it. Of course I added my own belt to give it more of a structured look. This dress is the perfect transitional piece, perfect for right now with the comfortable crepe fabric. And in the colder months I can easily wear it with tights, boots and a cool jacket. This is definitely a gem in my book.

Vineyards

Hi Lovies,

A few weeks ago me, Bae and 3 other couples went to Warick, NY to check out the wineries up there. I had been dying to go wine tasting for the longest time and was super excited about going. There are quite a few wineries up there but we only visited two, one of which also had beer tasting. The guys were very happy about that. The first winery we stopped at was called Demarest Vineyards, it was so beautiful, and owned by an old retired couple from Italy. Bored with their retirement Francesco got on his caterpillar dozer and cleared his land to plant grape vines. Francesco himself actually does the wine tasting with you in their quaint little store. He's very knowledgeable and proud of his delicious wines. Right outside their store are their rows and rows of grape wines, it was such a beautiful sight to see. Can we say photo op??

Casual Wear with Fit for Me

Hi Lovies,

One thing that I don't really talk about on the blog is active wear, basically because I am allergic to exercising lol! I do not work out, run, or go to the gym, it's not something I like to do. Honestly being a New Yorker and having to take a bus and train an hour into work 5 days a week is exercise enough for me! The funny thing is that I love active wear, there are so many cute plus size options now that are perfect for the everyday. Obviously, you know I love to be dressed up 85% of the time but the other 15% I just want to be comfy but cute. For these times, I like to reach for something that I can just throw on and head out the door to run errands, do grocery shopping, or walking our dogs. When you have a million things to think about in a day, getting dressed shouldn't be one of them.
