Military Chic

Hi Lovies!

I love days when I can just get up and throw something on that is easy breezy, when I don't have to worry about shape wear or hemlines. One of my favorite things to throw on are a comfortable pair of cargo/jogger pants. They are so effortless and can be styled in so many ways, just like these Camo Printed ones from Lane Bryant. I'm a sucker for anything camouflage print, so getting these was a must. I loved the tapered leg and zipper detail on the side as well as the large cargo pockets. They're right on trend with the whole military chic look and are a great staple for Fall.

Tribal Girl

Hi Lovies!

I love to see the transition that my closet has taken over the last few years. As I've gotten older, I have grown to love all things color. I am always looking for something colorful to add to my wardrobe, it just makes me smile to see a plethora of color in my closet. When Eloquii came out with this amazing Tribal Print Midi Skirt, I knew it was definitely coming home to mama. I loved the design and colors of this skirt, it was something different that I didn't already own. As you know I am always looking for something that can be worn both for work and weekend, and this totally fit the bill. It's the perfect length and fit super comfy due to the soft elastic waist. It is definitely a statement piece and I can't wait to see what other ways I can style this amazing skirt.

Stripes and Denim

Hi Lovies!

Now that summer is soon coming to a close (tears!), I am unfortunately getting my mind set for the Fall season. By doing that, I start going through my Summer clothes and seeing what I can transition over to Fall. I'm all about clothes that can be carried over from season to season and denim is ones of those things. Whether it be a dress, skirt or jeans, denim is a year round staple in my closet. This skirt from Eshakti is a perfect example, it's great right now for the remaining summer days but can easily be worn in the fall with tights and knee high boots. I just love the deep indigo wash on this skirt and the soft pleating, which gives it such a feminine look. Eshakti makes amazing skirts, I have a few in my wardrobe (see here and here) and you gotta love a skirt that comes with pockets!

Plus Size Remix: Galant Girl

Hey Lovies!

Welcome back for another edition of "Plus Size Remix"! If you missed the very first PSR, you can see it here. This months inspiration came from the beautiful Elenna of Galant Girl. She has amazing style and her pictures are fabulous, I could go through her blog for hours. Along with the polka dot top, just made for the perfect lady like ensemble, which is totally me. I couldn't wait to recreate it!

butter LONDON Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon Review & Giveaway

Hi Lovies!

I have never been huge on make-up, my regime consisted of lipstick and blush. The reason being, my knowledge of  how to use it was limited. But thanks to my blogger boo Darlene, she has totally gotten me into doing more with my make-up. She's been showing me a few techniques with application and I have also taken to YouTube for tutorials and such. I find the art of make-up totally fascinating and I give it to you ladies who can beat your face into submission. So when butter LONDON reach out to me asking if I'd like to try their brand new innovation products, I figured this would be a good time to delve into a make-up review. Now the only thing I knew of butter LONDON was their nail lacquers, which are amazing. So I knew what ever cosmetics they were going to send me was going to be great. I was even more excited when I received the box and it was filled with a plethora of their new Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon. They sent me the whole collection which consist of 7 amazing colors, in pinks, reds and neutrals. I couldn't wait to try them out!

Casually Tropical

Hey Lovies!

By now you probably seen these fabulous Palm Printed Soft Pants from Harper + Liv on a few bloggers. My girls Jeniese, Darlene and Shainna look awesome in them. I spoke about this new brand in one of my previous post here and how much I'm really enjoy their clothing. These pants were nothing short of amazing and so on trend with the beautiful print and color. They are super comfy and the quality is excellent as well as being cool enough to wear on the extremely hot days. I love the inset rounded hem as well as the easy pull on style. These pants don't have much give so keep that in mind when deciding on the size.

Chartreuse

Hi Lovies!

I have a lot of favorite colors, and if you follow my blog, you can figure out what they are. But I have to say one of my all time fav colors is Chartreuse. It just makes me so happy and puts ya in a great mood. It's the type of color that commands attention and who doesn't like that, right?? This maxi dress from Old Navy was no exception to that, the color was amazing and it was so simple but elegant. I loved the side splits that made for easier mobility and it was lined which is need for a color like this. Not to mention the numerous style possibilities and color combos you can create from it. It's the perfect summer dress!

Blogher 2015: What I Wore

Hi Lovies!!

If you follow me on an of my social media platforms, then you know that I attended the Blogher 2015 conference. Blogher is the world's largest conference for woman content creators. You are able to meet and connect with bloggers of all kinds in one place. It's a 2 day conference jammed packed with sessions, sponsor events, keynotes and just an all around amazing experience. Plus all the information I learned about blogging as well. I highly suggest you go at some point in your blogging career, it's totally worth it. I was luck enough to attend the conference with some of my fav blogger boos Georgette, Jeniese, Darlene and Marcy, which made the weekend that much better. We had the BEST time ever, felt like a girls slumber party they entire weekend. I can honestly say these woman are one of the best things that came out of blogging. Of course since we are all fashion bloggers, we took extra care as to what we wanted to wear. We knew that we would be doing a lot of standing, walking so comfortable attire was a must but that doesn't mean we couldn't be cute. So here what I wore.

In Living Color

Hi Lovies!

I've realized that whenever I wear something colorful and fun, it puts me in a good mood. There's just something about it that easily puts a pep in my step. I will admit that in the past my wardrobe was never this colorful. I was that girl who only wore earth tones, black and whites, because I was afraid of how bold colors would look on me. Well obviously that has changed and now my closet is literally a rainbow of colors, I can't get enough of it. When I did the look book for Modamix (see here), they gave me all the pieces from their Boho Chic line. Some didn't make the lookbook but I have definitely been putting those pieces to use, like this beautiful Tapestry Dress with Zipper Detail. Just like the skirt I wore in the look book, this dress was just as fabulous. The colors and details were absolutely amazing, so bold and bright. This dress totally makes a statement, and caught quite a few eyes as I strutted my stuff around the city. Since I try to take my fashion to the next level, I decided to wear this dress backwards. The front has a zipper coming down the middle (see stock picture at the bottom of post) but I thought for the look I was doing, the other side was better. It's like having 2 dresses for the price of one!

It's a Wrap!

Hi Lovies!

On my style journey, I continue to try and push the envelope with my fashion. I love that I have a certain "style" so to speak, that people associate me with. But I also don't like to get stuck in a rut with my fashion. I like to try new trends and fashion that are different but I can also work into my everyday style. Fashion to Figure is a great place to try out new trends and out the box styles without having to spend a fortune. When I saw this Hooded Denim Wrap Jacket, I was a little apprehensive but it definitely caught my eye. I usually hate anything with hoods but I knew there were quite a few styles I could accomplish with this jacket. Plus it was denim and you could never go wrong with that. I got a size 3 and there was plenty of room. Since it's a wrap jacket you can make as loose or fitted as you want. You can also add you own belt to change up the look, which is something I plan on doing the next time I wear it.This jacket can totally take me into the fall season and easily be layered with a turtleneck or sweater.

Shirt Dress Savvy

Hi Lovies!

Shirt dresses are definitely a staple item that we should all have in our wardrobe. I love the simplicity and classicness of them, it's a total no nonsense piece. They can be worn in numerous ways, for work, date night, brunch, or casual weekend, the options are endless. While looking through the Old Navy site, I came across this Striped Oxford Shirt Dress. I totally fell in love, it just looked so cute and comfy, perfect for the weekend. It was also very light and airy being made of cotton and the fact that it was short sleeved, helped as well. Now for me, as much as I love shirt dresses, they can tend to make me look a bit boxy so I always belt them to give me some shape. Old Navy has definitely stepped their game up and I have to say I am very happy with all the things I've gotten as of late.

This dress is a size XXL from their straight sizes

Harper + Liv

Hi Lovies!

Nothing makes me more happy than seeing new plus size brands emerging on the scene. Though we have come a long way from what we use to have, there is always room for more. So when the new plus size label Harper & Liv kindly sent me their summer look book back in May as well as inviting me to their showroom to preview the line, I was super excited. Harper & Liv is a trend driven lifestyle collection for the plus-size woman that celebrates her style, shape, and sense of self through fashion. I was very impressed with the line and how fun and functional it was. The line is very festival, boo hoo chic, which is super popular right now. All the pieces range in price from $39-$129 and carry sizes 16-24. The line is currently available at Dillards, (in store and online), Lord & Taylor and Macy'sAt the end of the preview, the kind folks at Harper & Liv sent us off with some pieces from the summer collection. Yay!

Plus Size Remix: Color Me Courtney

Hi Lovies!

Pinterest is one of my favorites places to go for style inspiration, I even have a board that I dedicate to my fav looks. I seek style inspiration from all over, most of the looks I find are looks that I would totally rock. So I decided that once a month I am going to do a feature called "Plus Size Remix" where I take a look and remix it into a plus size version. I love being able to take a look and turning it into a plus size version. I feel it's a way to show other PS women that there are options out there for us. Just because you see a look that you love on a straight size person, doesn't mean you can't re-create it. With some creativity and internet searching, you can easily accomplish these looks. Sometimes just by shopping your closet, you can find the pieces you need to put together your favorite ensembles!

For the love of Modamix

Hi Lovies!

Last year during Full Figured Fashion Week I was introduced to a new plus size brand called Modamix (see here). They invited a few bloggers to their showroom to preview their upcoming collections. I loved everything I saw and knew this was a brand I was going to keep my eye on. Fast forward to a year later, and my love for Modamix has not faltered, if anything it became stronger as more of their pieces make it into my closet. It was definitely clear that this was a brand I wanted to work with. I reached out to Sam and presented her with the idea of me shooting my first look book with them. To my surprise, she loved the idea and was excited about working together. My look book idea couldn't have come at a better time, Modamix was relaunching their website in June and dropping a few collections for the Summer. When I saw the pictures of the new collections, my excitement grew. Everything was so amazing and there was something for everyone! They had day to night looks, work wear, weekend wear and most of the pieces could be easily mixed and matched with one another, which is a plus in my book.
I met the team for lunch, who are just the nicest people ever, brainstormed and I left their showroom with a bag full of goodies for my shoot. I immediately got to work organizing my looks and scheduling my photo shoot. Of course I reached out to my talented niece April Pabon to take my photos for me. Since she is also a plus size gal, she was able to combine her artist vision with mine for the brand. When we were done, I was so pleased with how the photos came out that I couldn't wait to share them with the Modamix team. They were so ecstatic with the pictures that they asked if they could use them for their press kit, flyer hand outs (see here) and display for theCURVYcon (see here) as well as a banner for their website! I was so happy, humbled and most of all grateful that they believe in me and my blog enough to make me the face of this campaign. It totally felt like a dream come true. So without further ado, I present to you my Modamix Look Book!
Style Tip:I'm wearing 2X/18W in everything

Color Me Custom

Hi Lovies!!

Having your clothing custom made is such a pleasure, not only because the piece is one of a kind but it's made to your exact measurements. So the fit is going to be near perfect, which is something you don't often get when purchasing from a store. Now having clothes custom made can become pricey but I think there are some staple pieces that are worth having custom. When I first saw one of the Lion Hunter's custom skirts was on my girl Georgette from Grown and Curvy Woman. It was gorgeous, the colors and pattern was just perfection. I immediately went to her Etsy shop to check out more of her custom skirts. She had other fantastic prints as well as some tutus. From that moment I knew I had to have her make me one for FFFweek. When I reached out to her, she was just about to go to the fabric store and would send me photos of what she bought. The following day she sent me a photo of 10 different fabrics she purchased. When I saw them I nearly fell out my chair, they were all absolutely beautiful, I literally wanted one in every pattern. But there was one pattern that stood out from the rest and that's the one I chose for my skirt.

Matchy-Matchy

Hi Lovies!

Last week, as you know from my previous post here, was FFFweek as well as theCURVYcon. So to say I was a busy beaver is putting it lightly. Thursday was actually one of the more relaxed days, with the Hal Rubenstein and Marla Wynne blogger event. It was great to meet both designers and have them introduce their lines to us bloggers. Both of their lines are currently sold at HSN.com. At the end of the event, they sent the attendees off with a nice gift bag with a necklace from Marla and scarf from Hal. Since the event ended fairly early, me and my girl Darlene of Suits, Heels, & Curves decided to coordinate a "Plus Size Happy Hour" at the Skyroom Rooftop Lounge. It was super last minute and we posted about it literally on the same day. To our surprise, a few folks showed up and it turned out to be such a great night! In the words of Hannibal from the A-team "I love it when a plan comes together!"

White Doesn't Scare Me

Hi Lovies!

To some women, the color white can be a frightening thing. We have been conditioned to think that wearing white is taboo, due to the stereotype that it makes already big women, look bigger. I've never felt this way, the only reason I shy from this color is because I am not the most agile person in the world. Food just magically falls on me no matter how hard I try not to stain myself. But even with that, I continue to wear white and love it. Last Monday was the start of Full Figured Fashion Week, a week long series of events related to all things plus size. One of the most highly anticipated events is the Curves at Sea All White Cruise. Sailing around NY Harbor in a newly upgraded yacht, surrounded by so many awesome plus size women, dress to the nines in their best white outfits. Totally unapologetic and kicking all stereotypes in the butt while looking amazing. It's just so empowering to see so many women, of all shapes, sizes and color, feeling the same way, and totally not scared of wearing white.

Essie Golden #GoldenConfidence Pool Party

Hi Lovies!

Saturday I had the pleasure of attending one of the most amazing events I've been to in a long time. The Essie Golden #GoldenConfidence Pool Party. Essie is a PS blogger/model who is the genius behind this sold out event. She came up with the idea of inviting woman to enjoy a rooftop pool party giving us the opportunity come dressed in our best swimwear. Now I know for some woman the thought of being around a bunch of people in your swimsuit can be a terrifying, but this was a safe, non-fat shaming environment. Where you could come and chill, relax, mingle with other amazing woman, dance and enjoy some pool time. I had never felt so comfortable in a swimsuit in my life and being surround by so many other fabulous woman, that were dressed to the nines in ALL types of swimwear, just made it that much better.

Meshing with Watercolors

Hi Lovies!!

So I've come to the conclusion that Eloquii is the devil! Every week I'm just giving them all my money because they are constantly coming out with new amazing pieces. I'm at a point that I have a whole section in my closet dedicated to their stuff. Jesus needs to put a fence around my wallet ASAP! When they came out with this watercolor print, I just swooned. I immediately purchased the midi skirt (worn here) but hesitated on getting the top. Of course when I finally decided to get it, it was gone! But one day during my morning trolls on the site, I saw that it came back in my size and I purchased it on the spot. The top is just as amazing as the skirt and so glad I purchased it.

Athleisure

Hi Lovies!

On the weekends, I like to dress super comfortable, especially on Sundays. I just want to throw something on that I don't have to put too much thought into. Now don't get me wrong, I love dressing up when I can but sometimes you need a no nonsense outfit. When I saw this Locker Athletic Stripe Dress from Fashion to Figure, I immediately fell in love. The Athleisure trend is very popular right now and this dress had the perfect amount of sporty with the  sports jersey style stripes on the sleeves and neckline. But still remained feminine with the drawstring waist, curved hem and pockets. This dress is extremely soft and feels amazing on, you almost want to sleep in it!

Palm Print and Stripes

Hi Lovies,

Palm prints are popping up every where this season and I'm loving it. All the beautiful bright color combos I've been seeing, like these palm print pants I wore here for instance. It's just a super fun print to wear and makes you feel like you should be on a beach somewhere. This tank from H&M was nothing short of that. It's a nice light and comfortable top, perfect for the summer with it's delightful tropical print. You can definitely get a lot of use from this top, it goes with almost anything.

To the Max!

Hey Lovies!!

If you've noticed by now, I'm the type of gal that likes to show some leg...to a certain extent of course! I normally prefer my skirts or dress to hit right at the knee but I've kinda stepped out of that as of late. I now have a growing collection of midi skirts and I've even gone as far as wearing maxi length! Yes, me in a maxi skirt or dress is unheard of! But I find them to very elegant looking and so figure flattering. So when I saw the Makena Maxi Skirt from Fashion to Figure, I knew it would be the start to my Maxi collection. Just like their midi version that I wore here, the maxi version was just as fabulous. The vibrant green color was definitely an eye catcher and I just loved the way the skirt moved with my body, especially when the wind caught it.

Styling tip: Do keep in mind this is maxi length, I'm 5'7 and it was grazing the floor without shoes on, so if you're shorter, heels are a must. I'm wearing a 3X.

Fashion to Figure gifted me these items but all opinions are mine own

Pattern Mixing

Hi Lovies!!

Pattern mixing to me is a total science, you really have to know what you're doing otherwise you could end up looking crazy. Now I am far from an expert and rarely dabble in it. My boo Georgette from Grown and Curvy Woman, who is my pattern mixing inspiration, makes it looks so effortless or Mo from Lion Hunter who is basically a pattern mixing Guru!! Since I'm a fledgling at this, I decided to try a simple mix, florals and stripes. This mix seems to be a popular one with most folks and I have to say I am loving it!

Clothes before Bros

Hi Lovies!

I love graphic tees, especially when they have cute sayings or phrases on them, I've collected quite a few. You can do so much with them and they can easily be dressed up or down, depending on how you want to wear it. So when I saw this graphic tee on Lacey from The Lacey Perspective I squealed a little and immediately bought it! It was such the perfect phrase cause umm, clothes come before a lot of things in my book lol!

Memorial Day Simple

Hi Lovies!

Having a 3 day weekend is always a good thing, they should definitely happen more often. This weekend was Memorial Day weekend and I have to say mine was pretty low key. I didn't go away for the weekend nor did I attend any BBQ's (insert sad face). But I still enjoy it and got to spend Memorial day with my BCF (best cousin ever) who is an awesome cook. She made sliders, shish kebobs, and of course some rice & beans. So even though we weren't at an actual BBQ, she made it feel like one. Since I was keeping it low key, I also kept my outfit that way. The folks over at Fashion to Figure must have known I was keeping it simple cause they sent me a surprise gift Friday of this adorable outfit. It totally made me want to go sailing on a boat, it was such a nautical ensemble.

My Good Day NY Segment with Eloquii

Hi Lovies!

Back in April, Eloquii reached out to me and 3 other women asking if we wanted to model their clothes for a Good Day NY segment. Of course I said yes, it's Eloquii, my fav plus size brand! After saying yes, I started to get nervous, I have never been on TV before. I pictured myself falling flat on my face as I walked down or just looking like a goofball in general. My blogger boo Georgette was one of the women asked, so we had each other for moral support. Luckily the segment wasn't being aired live so that eased the anxiety lol.

Mother's Day

Hi Lovies,

Most of my friends and family know that I lost my mother last July to Lupus. It was a long and hard struggle for my Mom due to the fact that the Lupus affected her lungs. She was so strong and such a fighter to the very end. This Mother's Day was the first without her and it was a tough one. But I'm very lucky to have such great family and friends that help eased the pain with their kind and thoughtful words. So instead of spending the day at home sad, I decided to get dressed up in some her favorite colors and spend it with my family. My sister had a nice BBQ at her place and it was just what I needed. We ate, shared stories of our mother and just surrounded each other with love. I couldn't have asked for a better day.

Hawaiian Dreams

Hi Lovies!

I am far from a world traveler but there are many places I want to visit before I kick the bucket. My top destination is the UK (I'm obsessed with the British!) and one of my others is Hawaii. Every time I think of Hawaii, I think of the gorgeous beaches, coconuts, grass skirts and palm trees. So when I saw these Lena Printed Crop Pants from Lane Bryant, my mind was immediately carried off to the island. I fell in  love with the vibrant green palm leaves print as well as the crop length which made them such a fun and casual pant. Perfect for a Saturday brunch with my honey or vacationing on any tropical island lol!

I've Got The Blues

Hi Lovies!

If you're a shopaholic like me, then you tend to stock pile on clothes. Even if it's something off season, but it's a great price, you buy it. Well I have a few things in my closet that I stocked piled and this ASOS Curve Longline Blazer was one of them. I remember seeing it last year and lusting over it. so when I saw it on sale for $30 back in February, I jumped on it! I tucked it away in my closet, anxiously waiting for Spring to arrive so that I could wear it. I finally got to wear it this weekend, TWICE! I love the blue and white floral print, it reminds me of oriental porcelain. It's super comfortable and can be dressed up or down, which I did over the weekend.

Nudes and Neutrals

Hey Lovies!

I love the fact that I am truly a girly girl, I adore all things, dainty, delicate, frilly and frou frou. As of late, I've found myself drawn to delicate nudes and neutral colors. I think they are so feminine and classy, making you look so put together. Not to mention the simplicity of the look as well. So when I saw this top and skirt from Fashion to Figure, I knew I wanted to wear them together. The colors paired so well together to create such a simple but sophisticated look.

Black and Florals

Hi Lovies!

Today I'm bringing you another review for the UK brand Yours Clothing. The first review was on one of their dresses (see here), this one is a little different. As you know I am a total dress/skirt girl, I just love them but I do wear pants or jeans, especially at work. I've been looking for the perfect black skinny jeans and these Super Stretch Skinny Jeans from Yours Clothing are just amazing! They are super soft, comfortable and even though it doesn't say high waist, they fit me as such, which is great. They are also skinny from thigh to ankle, I hate those jeans that claim to be "skinny" and they bag out at the knee or ankle area. I would recommend sizing down because they do have plenty of stretch, also please refer to the size chart since it's UK sizing, I ordered mine in a US20.

Gone With The Wind Fabulous

Hi Lovies!

When I showed this picture below to my BFF Jamie, her response was "Gone with the wind fabulous!". I laughed of course but loved it so much that I knew I wanted it to be the name of this blog post. Little did I know that it was a tagline of Kenya Moore's from Housewives of Atlanta. Now I don't watch the show but it's definitely a cute tagline and will be using it in my repertoire! It was quite the windy day when I shot these pictures which kinda worked out great to show off this cute Pleated Midi from Simply Be. The perfect skirt for the spring/summer season with it's amazing vibrant pink color and delicate pleating. It's super comfortable with it's no fuss, easy elastic waistband. Just an fyi about this skirt, it is VERY sheer so make sure you're wearing the proper undergarments because they can totally be seen.

Birds and Pastels

Hi Lovies!

Spring weather is inching it's way here to NYC and we've had a few beautiful days. When we have these warmer days, all I want to wear are spring colors, pastels especially. So the other day I took the opportunity to finally wear this amazing duster coat from H&M. I can't even get into words how much I love this coat, it is pure perfection. The amazing pastel peach color along with the beautiful bird print, its EVERYTHING! I can't tell you how many compliments I got on this coat. This is from their straight sizes, but it is oversize so a large fit me perfect.
