Plus Size Remix: Style by Friedy

Happy Monday Lovies,

It's "Plus Size Remix" time again and this month I am bringing you inspiration from the lovely Freidy from Style by Friedy. I came upon her picture last year on Pinterest and I was immediately drawn to this look. It had all my favorites colors, cobalt, chartreuse and leopard. Umm yea leopard is a color! Friedy has awesome style, and she is a total skirt girl like me, which I love. Her looks are always so put together, sharp and super feminine, not to mention chic and stylish, which is what my style represents. I look forward to checking out her newest posts to see what amazing ensemble she has puts together. If you aren't following Freidy, you need to do so now, you won't regret it. If you missed last months PSR you can check it out here.

Beauty Fridays: Current Make-Up Routine

Hi Lovies,

This Friday marks the start of a new feature on the blog "Beauty Fridays". Twice a month I will be doing beauty posts, which can consist of make-up reviews, skin care routine, hair care regime etc. Since getting into make-up last year, I feel like my knowledge has definitely grown. I have developed a love for it and find myself watching YouTube videos to become more skilled at the art of it. Next to fashion, make-up is my next obsession. So today I am bringing you my current make-up routine. I keep my routine pretty simple and natural looking because I don't have a lot of time in the morning before work to really do a beat face. Plus I'm not about that "full on face" life unless I am taking blog photos or a photo shoot. Below is a list of the products I've been use on a regular basis and have been loving.

The Blogger Skirt

Hi Lovies,

Last year I had the pleasure of attending the Lane Bryant Spring Preview. As usual they had an abundance of great pieces for the season. With these previews, you always have certain favorites that you stalk the site for waiting to pop up. Well this skirt was definitely a crowd favorite and with good reason. It had everything that I loved, it was pleated, had pockets, midi length and the print was amazing. As soon as this skirt hit the website, I scooped it up. Now at the time that I purchased it the weather was still too cold to wear so I stashed it away. Like I said before this printed midi skirt was very popular and soon I started to see my other blogger boos rocking it on their blogs. Like Georgette, Jeniese, and Farrah, who all looked fab in their looks. After seeing so many awesome bloggers styling this skirt, it was a no brainer to deem this The Blogger Skirt.

Ladies Who Brunch

Hi Lovies,

Sundays are usually reserved for all things blogging, like taking outfit photos, getting post together for the week and organizing my editorial calendar. This Sunday my boo Georgette from Grown and Curvy Woman was in town so we made a date to meet for brunch with our other blogger babe Jamie from Style over Size. I always have the best time when I get together with my girls. We just enjoy each others company, have great convo and lots of laugh. In true blogger form, we took this opportunity to get dolled up since blog photos were definitely on the agenda. On my last visit to Fashion to Figure, Jamie spotted this amazing Selene Circle Cape Blazer and I literally snatched it out of her hand. You guys know I love me a cape in any shape or form. This beauty was made of scuba material which was great and I loved the playful circle print. It was different from all my others capes and I really liked that it was black and white. This cape blazer is definitely a showstopper.

Work Sassy

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to my work attire, I don't have to put too much thought into it. The dress code at work is pretty lax being its a fashion company. But during market week when our accounts come in to see the new lines, I do like to step my game up. Now I'm not going to be wearing a power suit or anything like that but I'll definitely put together a look that it work appropriate, while still showing my personal style. I decided I wanted to go with a bold look and of course I had to reach for something leopard. This Etta Animal Print Blazer from Fashion to Figure was such a take charge piece. I loved the ruffled front that gave off a peplum feel. This blazer can go from the executive office to dinner and drinks after work. You will for sure be making at statement at the office with this blazer.

Spring in my Step

Hi Lovies

Spring is definitely in the air, especially with the temps in the 70's today. The sun is coming out earlier now and the birds welcome you each morning with their chirping. This gets me daydreaming about beautiful pastels, floral prints and easy breezy fabrics. In true shopaholic form, I've been stalking my fav sites to see what amazing things they are bringing for the new season. When I came across this matching Floral Crop and Skirt set from Forever 21, it immediately screamed Spring time. The pale yellow along with the green and white accents from the floral print made this such an Asian inspired design. I loved the satiny feel of the fabric and the A-line skirt was the perfect length. The crop top has a pretty gold exposed zipper in the back as well for some added detail. This outfit was so ladylike and feminine, I felt like I should be at a tea party or something lol.

Style Tip: This set does run small, especially the top so size up if you can. I am wearing a 3X in both pieces.

Sex Appeal

Hi Lovies!

For most date nights with my Beau, I like to put a little more effort into what I am going to wear. We love to go out for brunch or dinner on the weekends so my outfit varies depending where we go. But there are times where I want to take my look up a notch and go extra sexy. When you've been with someone for 6 years, you have to try to keep the relationship new and exciting. Like surprising him with a super sexy ensemble to peak his interest and remind him what a hot mama he has lol. Now you know I always like to stay within my own personal style, classy and elegant, but jazz it up to add the extra sexiness I'm looking for. This Serena Sheath Dress was definitely right up my alley, with it's bold cutout cage detailing on the shoulders and hemline, showing off some skin. For me, sheath dresses can tend to make me look boxy since I'm not super curvy, so I like to belt them to give me more of a shape. The v-neck design showed just enough cleavage to entice my beau but still leaving something to the imagination and the lovely blue color went great with my skin tone.

The White Shirt

Hi Lovies,

One thing that every woman should have in her wardrobe is a white button up shirt. There's just something that is so clean and crisp about it, definitely adding a bit of sharpness to an outfit. The simple white shirt has definitely evolved over the years and now comes in many styles. When I saw this Hi/Lo Tunic style one from The Avenue, I knew I had to have it. It was so different and I love me a tunic. I still get the crisp white tailored look of a white shirt but with a longer length. Plus the shirt has pockets, which was mine blowing to me. Pure genius on the part of The Avenue for adding pockets. Bravo!!

Seeing Spots

Hi Lovies,

Now that we are only 20 days away from Spring, I can start daydreaming of a new wardrobe. One thing I love to wear during this season are bold prints and color. Stripes has always been a love of mine but polka dots are a close second. For some, this type of print can be intimidating but I embrace it with open arms. I find polka dot print to be so girly and whimsical, definitely bringing me back to my childhood. Since I already own tops and skirts in polka dot print, I decided to go on a hunt for a dress. Ashley Stewart answered my prayers with this fab Polka Dot A-Line Skirt Dress. I love me a shirt dress, especially in an A-line design and this one was definitely a beauty. The cuff sleeves, belted waist and over sized polka dots made this such a mod look. The fit was amazing and super comfy with the elastic waist band, all that was missing were pockets. I totally felt like a 60's house wife in this dress.

The Wrap Dress

Hi Lovies,

As you guys know I always shop for clothing that can do double duty for me. Things that I can wear to work, after work and on the weekends. You know I am a total dress girl and one of my favorite silhouettes is the wrap dress. I don't know if it's because of my love for the Diane Von Furstenberg classic wrap dress but there's just something so feminine and sexy about them. They look great on just about any shape and are figure flattering. I love that I can wear this to work, as well on the weekend with just a quick change of my accessories. It is definitely a staple piece to have in your wardrobe.

Safari Chic

Hi Lovies!

When deciding on wearing casual outfits, I never think of just jeans and a t-shirt. I like to look a little deeper than that. My casual look has to have some type of flair or chicness to it. But achieving this doesn't require a lot of thought and some of the simplest pieces put together can make this happen. This weekend I reach for a pair of cargo joggers and a tunic. Simple, right? Joggers can be very versatile, being you can dress them up with a pair of heels or booties or down with a pair of sneakers. This pair from Fullbeauty were amazing, comfortable, and the army green color goes with so much and is super trendy right now. They are a must have for the upcoming spring season. The Sabrina Tunic was nothing short of simple, the beautiful earth tone print went perfectly with the joggers. No need for a necklace with this easy breezy top due to the embellished gold trim neckline. I also love that the sleeves could be wore down or rolled up, perfect for warmer weather. Boots were the way to go on this day and their Cleo Bootie are literally my fav ever, so much so I own them in all three colors.

Cold Snap

Hi Lovies,

Just when you think you can start thinking about Spring, Old Man Winter rears his ugly head. Living in NYC you have to be ready for anything during the Winter. One day could be below zero temps and the next we are in the high 50's. I like to remain ready with an arsenal of different outerwear in my closet. One type that is a must have is a good puffer coat. I use to shy away from this type of coat because I felt they made me look bigger. But now there are so many varieties that are super stylish, have great silhouettes and structure. This Belted Puffer from Fullbeauty was such a great pick, I love the pretty camel color and the lightweight design. The rounded hemline was very flattering along with the belt which cinches the waist. Plus it has a fur trim hood that made it an instant chic winter look.

Asymmetrical

Hi Lovies!

Now that the sun is staying out a bit longer and spring is within our reach, I can start looking at spring clothing. You know how much I despise the winter, so it's a treat to look at all the wonderful things that are starting to pop up for the upcoming season. In a previous post, I spoke of the brand the Avenue and how they have come a long way with their fashion. They currently have a bunch of great pieces for spring, especially in dresses. You know I'm a total dress girl and love adding unique ones to my collection. This Asymmetrical Denim Dress was definitely something I didn't have and would be perfect for spring.

Plus Size Remix: Stylish Petite

Happy Monday Lovies!

It's that time again where I bring you another edition of my "Plus Size Remix". This months inspiration comes from the super cute and fashionable Annie of Stylish Petite. I can't get enough of her style, she's the epitome of feminine and girly with a side of whimsy. She can go from all out fancy/formal to simple/casual all while looking polished and fabulous. She's another one you'll find in abundance on my Pinterest Style Inspiration board. This look was one of the first ones I ever pinned and have been wanting to recreate it for the longest time. I live for my simple but chic looks and this is totally one of them.

Work Wear with Modamix

Hi Lovies,

As you know I work in the fashion industry and the dress code in my office is pretty relaxed. But during Market week everyone in the office likes to step up their outfits for our accounts that stop in. For last market I put together a work wear outfit from the Modamix's Resort Collection. You remember me and my blogger boo Darlene had the pleasure of shooting with them for this collection (see here). What I love about this collection is the variety of silhouettes, bold prints and colors. There's so many combinations and styles to create, the possibilities are endless.

One Stop Shopping

Hi Lovies!

There's nothing better than having a website that you can go to and get everything you need in one spot. That's why I enjoy Fullbeauty so much, they are the world's largest plus-size marketplace. As the fit experts of plus-size clothing, they offer the best fashion, sizes 12 to 44, empowering you to look and feel beautiful and to #OwnYourCurves! I love that I can come here and get a whole outfit, from shoes to accessories, not to mention the abundance of brands they carry. City Chic is an Australian plus size retailer I have been wanting to try for a long time, so I decided to take a look at the selection they had.

Denim on Denim

Hi Lovies,

I have a morning commute routine which consist of checking my social media, going through my bloglovin to see what my favorite bloggers are posting about and lastly I read my emails. The ones I go to first are from the brands I frequently shop at, informing me about what discounts or sales they are currently having, and/or new arrivals. Emails from Eloquii are usually the ones I open first, they have the best sales and I just adore them. When this Mixed Denim Skater Skirt popped up on their site, I wasted no time clicking the "ADD TO CART" button. It was instant love at first sight, I mean c'mon, just look at it! It had such a 70's feel to it while still remaining modern. Plus the fit and flare, skater silhouette is me on so many levels. Also the possibilities of looks is so endless, denim goes with pretty much everything!

Winter Fresh

Hi Lovies,

Now that the remnants from Winter Storm Jonas is finally starting to disappear, I can put away the ugly winter gear and wear something a little more fashionable. It's still chilly out so one of my fav things to wear that is simple and easy but still keeps me warm is a cute sweater dress. This Texture Cowlneck one from Fullbeauty is perfect. It has a nice cozy turtleneck which kept me warm and there was no need for a scarf. I loved the textured honeycomb design and the dusty pink color was so feminine and pretty. The longer hemline looked great with some knee high boots and there was so need for tights...score!

Weekend Casual with The Avenue

Hi Lovies,

When I'm not working my 9 to 5 or taking photos for the blog, I enjoy being as comfortable as possible. I look forward to my weekends, where I can just chill with my Beau, binge watch episodes of Big Bang Theory and have a few glasses of wine. Obviously what I'm wearing has to be just as comfortable as I feel. You all know I am a skirt and dress kinda girl but living in NYC during the Winter months can be trying with the unruly temps. So I find myself reaching for my jeans or leggings a lot more. I needed to add some more casual weekend items to my wardrobe and found myself browsing The Avenue website. This brand has been around for over 30 years and has definitely come a long way with their fashion. They have a little of everything, from work wear, on trend pieces and casual separates. Not to mention they carry petite, tall and extended sizes to accommodate the needs of their customers. They are brand you should definitely take a look at.

Sexy Valentine's

Hi Lovies,

For my last Valentine's Day look, I'm bringing you my version of the sexy Valentine's. In my previous post here, I mentioned how I normally like to go more glam for this day but there are occasions where I do like to take the sexy up a notch. Of course always keeping with my personal style and not going too over the top. As you know Leopard is "Bae" and any chance I get I must incorporate it in my ensembles. When I got this amazing dress in my Gwynnie Bee shipment, I squealed. There are 3 things I loved about this dress, it's a skater silhouette, it's made of scuba material and it's leopard print. I mean c'mon, could this be anymore perfect?! The fit was great, super comfy, the length was just right, showing just enough leg and the skater design was beyond flattering. I was very impressed with this dress and might actually considered keeping this one.

Pantone Spring 2016 Blogger Collaboration

Hi Lovies!!

Working for a fashion company for the last 4 years, I've learned a lot about the industry. Pantone is a big part of creating new lines, styles and color stories. Recently Pantone released their Spring 2016 Top 10 colors and according to Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute "The colors this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves."  That's exactly how I felt when I saw these amazing colors. With that came the awesome idea for a group of us bloggers to do a collab. So today I bring you the Pantone Spring 2016 Blogger Collaboration. Similar to the one I was in last year (see here), we each chose a color from the collection and created a look. I love these types of collabs because it shows how different our individual styles are while still having some uniformity between us all.

Valentine's Day Glam

Hi Lovies!!

For most women, Valentine's Day is a day to get super ultra sexy for your special someone. And while I see nothing wrong with that, I tend to gravitate towards more elegance and sophistication for that day. I guess I'm just old fashioned in that sense, and took a page out my mom's handbook about always representing yourself as a lady. It still can be very sexy, while totally representing me and my personal style. This Rita Turtleneck Dress by Corey from Gwynnie Bee is a perfect example of that. I love the draped turtleneck and rope tie belt that helps to accentuate the waist. The charcoal grey color is classic and can go with pretty much anything. What gives this dress it's sexiness is the two front slits that show off just enough leg, but still leaves something to the imagination. I added a pop of color with my red clutch and I'm ready to have a night out to be romanticized.

That 70's Show

Hi Lovies!!

The 70's trend has hit the fashion scene by storm and is popping up every where. We are seeing wide leg pants, bell sleeves, fringe and lots of suede. When I think of the 70's, I always refer to a picture I took when I was about 4 yrs. old with Santa Claus. I was dressed in a denim patchwork suit and my facial expression in the picture pretty much explained how I felt about being with Santa and wearing that suit, lol! Now that I'm older I can appreciate that trend more and make it my own. This denim dress from Eloquii was a must have the minute I saw it. I'm a total sucker for a denim dress and this one had such a 70's vibe to it. I love the exposed front zipper and tie belt, along with the over-sized pockets made this such a fun dress.

Valentine's Day with Gwynnie Bee

Hi Lovies,

It's hard to believe that we are almost done with January, seems like I was just screaming "Happy New Year"and drinking champagne. Now with February approaching, starts the season of love aka Valentine's Day. For some this can be a dreadful day and for others an all out event. I myself normally don't go crazy, my Beau usually works on that day and we end up celebrating on the weekend with a low key dinner date. But that doesn't mean I don't like to dress up. If you read my recent post on Gwynnie Bee here, then you know how much I love their service. They provide me with tons of options for all different occassions. This Quilted Wrap Jacket from Kiyonna totally caught my eye and definitely was perfect for V'day. I loved it so much, I decided to style it in a day to night look.

Marla Wynne Collection

Hi Lovies!!

Last June I had the pleasure of attending a blogger event during Full Figured Fashion Week that was hosted by Marla Wynne. She's an amazing designer and we were able to check out her collection at this event. We actually got to speak with Marla and get more in depth about the pieces, fit, quality, etc. I remember how passionate she was when she spoke about her clothing. It was very refreshing and definitely left me with interest in her brand. Fast Forward to 2016, Marla's team reached out to me and asked if I'd like to come by her apartment to have a meeting with her, check out her latest collection, talk about future projects and get better acquainted. Needless to say I was more than happy to say yes and couldn't wait. The meeting was wonderful, Marla is such a charismatic, funny and awesome person. She couldn't wait for me to try on some of her pieces and give my feedback on them. At the end of the meeting, we had decided that we definitely wanted to work together, and I left with a bag full of amazing pieces to share with you all today!

Plus Size Remix: Suburban Faux-Pas

Hi Lovies!

Happy New Year! Sorry I have been MIA for the first part of the new year, but I am back and I'm bringing you another edition of "Plus Size Remix"! If you missed the ones from last year you can see them here, here and here. This month's inspiration comes from Krystin Lee of Suburban Faux-Pas. I can not express how much I adore this woman's style, she's just so elegant, classy and chic all in one. I find myself just browsing through her Instagram pics because they are just so pretty. My pinterest style inpiration board is full of her fab looks and it was so hard to decided on one. The one I chose definitely reminded me of something I would wear. I just loved the hunter green pleated skirt with the simple beige tee along with the mustard sweater and nude heels. It was simple but so sophisicated looking at the same time.
