A Year at a Glance

A Year at a Glance

Hi Lovies,

It seems like every new year goes by in a blink of an eye, and we are now entering 2017. One of the great things about blogging is that it chronicles your life so to speak. While I can't always rely on my memory to remember everything that has happened throughout the year, I can come to the blog to look back on all I've achieved. I can honestly say that 2016 was very good to my blog and because of all my great accomplishments, it allowed me to grow as a brand and as a person. I no longer look at blogging as a hobby but as a job that I actually enjoy going to. It's so rewarding when I get messages or emails from my readers telling me how much of an inspiration I am to them. They are the ones that motivate me to keep this freight train rolling because the last thing I want to do is let my reader down. So today, I will look back at all I've accomplished this year and continue to feel blessed by every moment!

1. Photo shoots

I have to say my shyness for having my photo taken has went out the window and was able to be apart of a few brand photo shoots this year. It's always a lot of fun and the end product is the best part. My shoot with Modamix was such fun!

2. Name Sake Dress

You guys know how much I loved working with the brand Modamix and over this pass year our blogger relationship grew immensely. Not only did I do a photo shoot with them but they also name a dress after me. That's like every bloggers dream and mine came true, the Modamix team are true gems.

3. Conquering My Fears

Wearing a swimsuit is still very terrifying for me but like I've been saying all year, pushing myself and stepping out my comfort zone was a goal of mine. So I deem the summer of 2016 the year of the swimsuit for me. I posted 4 different swimsuits look to the blog this year and I couldn't have been prouder of myself!

4. The Instagram Wives

I have met some amazing people in the 5 years that I've been blogging, some of who I now consider family. Two of those being my blogger besties Darlene from Suits, Heels and Curves and Jami of Style Over Size. In the past year our friendship has grown so much, with living and working so close to each other, it was inevitable. Not to mention having people with the same blogging passion as you, to support and help you is a great feeling.

In April, were featured on the I Heart My Body Facebook page in a video dubbed The Instagram Wives. The video highlighted how our friendship has grown from originally meeting on Instagram to blog photo shoots and brunch dates. We got so much great feedback from the video and when we would attend events together they would refer to us as the IG Wives. So in June we decided to launch the official The Instagram Wives Instagram and Facebook pages to showcase our friendship, style and women empowerment.

5. Brand Sponsored Trip

Another dream of mine was to get a brand sponsored trip and because of The Instagram Wives, that was able to happen. We pitched the idea of sponsoring us to attend the conference Blogher, that was in LA this year, to the brand Avenue and they accepted! This was huge for us and we will forever be grateful to the Avenue team for believing in us and making an amazing opportunity happen!

6. Magazine Feature

Getting featured in a magazine is a big deal for anyone and I had the pleasure of being in 2 this year! The first one was a huge editorial spread with The Instagram Wives in the Denim Issue of Plus Model Magazine and the other was being featured in the Winter Edition "Fashion Do's" section of Fab U Plus Magazine. I am still awe-struck over both features!

7. Fullbeauty Holiday Video

As you know, the three of us are part of their Own Your Curves Ambassador Program for the brand Fullbeauty. It's been great working with the brand this year as a OYC Ambassador, so of course we were delighted when they asked us to be apart of their Holiday Shop Project. We spend 2 days with the FB team shooting videos and photos for the website. We each had our own video as well as a group one. I have to say it was super challenging since I am a bit camera shy but being with my girls certainly made it a lot easier. The photos and videos came out amazing, we were extremely happy. The Fullbeauty team has been very good to us this year and I can't say enough good things about them!

So there you have it, 2016, a year at a glance, it has been an amazing one and I couldn't feel more blessed to have accomplished so much. Thank you to everyone who was part of this special year and most of all thank you to my readers. You are the reason why I keep doing this!.
May you all have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!
