Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

Hi Lovies,

In the world of fashion, there can be many rules that society likes to put on it, especially when it comes to age. They feel a woman of a certain age should be wearing clothing that is age appropriate. Now why I may agree with this to a certain extent, I do believe that women should be able to wear whatever makes them feel good. Being an older women in a world that feels fashion is for the young, I like to push the envelope and show the world that age ain't nothing but a number. With my 44th birthday coming up next week, I've never felt so youthful and daring with my fashion. I want to inspire other women like me to break the rules and show the world we can be just as fashionable as the rest of them.

During NYFW, I had the privilege of attending the Addition Elle Runway Show. This had been my first time attending any shows during NYFW, so I was super excited to be there. Having plus size brand like Addition Elle be a part of NYFW was such an epic moment. But I couldn't help but think while watching the fashions come down the runway was that all the models were half my age. Which also led to me saying to myself, "Are any of these clothes appropriate for me to be wearing?" While I did entertained that thought for a bit, that little voice in my head said to me "SNAP OUTTA OF IT!"

I loved so many pieces from the runway show, especially the Love & Legend collection by Jordyn Woods. The 2 pieces that stood out the most were the Embroidered Plaid Tunic and Long Military Jacket. Both pieces are something that I normally wouldn't wear but I just loved how they looked together. I was feeling very daring by wearing this tunic as a dress. While it was short I felt good in it and why not show off a little leg. The embroidered flower detail on it was so pretty as well. I loved that I have the option to wear this with or without something underneath. The Military Coat was definitely the star of the show. Velvet is such a huge trend right now and I've been wanting to add something in that material to my wardrobe. It's such an elegant piece with the long line design and shiny gold button details. It's gonna be great for the colder months and easily worn day or night.

Do you stick to age appropriate clothing or do you like to break the fashion rules?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I do think some clothes aren't age appropriate- but I do think every style can be worn in an appropriate way! I love how you're strutting around and working those boots and tunic! You certainly made it work and your confidence shines through! - Bar

  2. I really like what you put together ! There are some clothes that aren’t age or location appropriate but I think those specific things are obvious.

  3. I think it all depends on how confident you are with the look. As long as you can dress well then do it - regardless of age!
