For not being the biggest fan of the colder temps, I have quite a collection of outerwear. This is one of the few things I enjoy about the fall/winter, that I can delve into my closet and start rocking my favorite jackets. Whether it be using it for layering purposes, tying it around your waist for a funky look or just want an accent piece to drape over your shoulders. There's just something about a piece of outerwear that can take a look to the next level. Here are my top five favorite must have jackets for the fall.
1. The Denim Jacket
1. The Denim Jacket
A denim jacket is the quintessential outerwear, it's been around since the dawn of time. It's cool, classic, always appealing and instantly takes me back to the 80's. Whether you dress it up or down, you can't go wrong with this jacket, it literally goes with everything.

You guys already know my obsession with moto jackets and the endless collection I possess. What can I say, the moto is such a versatile piece of clothing. Whether you're going for ultra glam with some fur, zipped up as a statement top, or full on rocker chic with a pair of distressed jeans, the moto jacket is where it's at!
The classic trench coat should be a permanent resident in your wardrobe and the ideal staple to hotfoot it around the city. As simple as it may be, when the autumnal wind are whistling or the spring rain is pouring down on you, this jacket you want to wear. It's classic as well as being iconic but over the years has evolved into so much more. Perfect with jeans, skirts, dresses, just about anything. Oh and it makes me feel like Inspector gadget and who doesn't want that???
The utility jacket has instantly become one of the trendiest outerwear for the last few seasons. It's literally like the denim jacket but with a military flare to it. It's the kind of light jacket that is perfect for spring because it keeps you from getting cold but won’t make you too warm, which is exactly what you need for confusing spring weather. Or you can think of them more as a layering option rather than just a jacket when the weather transitions in to fall. With so many colors, prints and fabrics, I'm sure there's one out there for you.
This might be an unexpected staple or must have but capes are taking over the fashion scene. A cape, whether it’s worn as a coat or a blazer, gives a touch of elegance to any outfit you have on. Different from a poncho because of the holes for your arms, capes have been around forever and they’re pretty timeless. They are pretty unique, and wearing one can feel a little bit like dressing up sometimes – but in a good way. I think capes are great for fall because they’re perfect for layering. Since they give warmth without being as suffocating as a coat, they’re ideal for fall weather.
