A few weekends ago, I attend the Curlfest which is the ultimate natural beauty festival. I attended last year for the first time and had the best time so there was no question I was going to go this year. The festival was held in Prospect Park in Brooklyn where you are surrounded by the mecca of afros, twist-outs and of course curls. It's so much fun, positive vibes, just a unity of people all there for the same reason. Me and my Instagram Wife Jami came along with me and we had the best time. We check out all the vendors, took pictures and just chilled and enjoyed the amazing sea of beautiful people. Not to mention the huge goodie bag we took home full of awesome hair products from the sponsors of the event. I definitely can't wait for next year to attend again!
Since this was a festival, I decided to dress the part somewhat. I must be honest, I am not the biggest fan of the whole festival wear/boohoo trend. But this Lace-up Shirt Dress from Roaman's definitely caught my attention. I loved the peasant lace-up detail and bold peacock color, which was totally appropriate for the day. Despite the warm temps that day, and the long sleeves, I felt comfortable due to the lightweight fabric. Normally with these types of dresses I would belt them to give me more of shape, which I still might do when I wear it again. But this one didn't make me feel like I was wearing a tent, there was still structure and shape to it. Roaman's was kind enough to me a special coupon code for my readers. Use the code RDSANDRA for 20% off your order with them. They are one of the leaders in plus size fashion and basically a one stop shop. You can get everything you need on one site, what more can a girl ask for?!
Festival/Boohoo Chic or nah?
