Voodoo Vixen

Voodoo Vixen

Hi lovies,

As you all know if you've been following me on social media, last week was Full Figured Fashion Week and The Curvy Con. So to say I had a busy week is an understatement. It was full of awesome events, hanging out with my fav bloggers from here in NYC and out of town as well. My week started Tuesday evening with the Marla Wynne Fashion for everyBODY Blogger event. I've worked with Marla before and did a post on her collection back in the winter (see here). Marla is such a character and a wonderful designer, and her clothes show that. We were able to get a preview of her upcoming pieces and got some goodies to take home with us as well. It was definitely a fun night and great way to kick off my week.

Now one of the biggest things about this week that is chock full of events is figuring out what I am going to wear. The level of style has to definitely be kicked up a notch because everyone is dressing to the nines during this time. The folks from Voodoo Vixen were kind enough to send me a dress to review. Voodoo Vixen is a vintage inspired label from the UK, who infuses retro, pin-up and rockabilly styles with classic silhouettes to flatter the modern woman. Their pieces are designed to compliment the curves and make you stand out in a crowd, which I am totally about! I have never been a huge fan of the pin-up style but after looking through their site I became a fan. I picked out the Sheila Dress, it was a pretty minty color with an retro abstract cat print. At first sight I couldn't even tell they were black cats due to the shape of them, which makes this such a unique print. I loved the high collar and over sized lapel, along with the functional pockets which made this such lady-like dress.

This dress came with it's own belt but you know I always like to add my own personal style to my looks. I pulled my Wonder Lee "Blogger" Bow Tie which coincidentally I purchased three years ago for my very first FFFweek All White Cruise (see here and here). Wonder Lee is the amazing artist responsible for this awesome bow tie as well as many other designs that she's created. If you watch The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, then you might have noticed the drummer Quest Love sporting her bow ties. She believes in the reuse, reduce, recycle movement and makes all her bow ties in that matter. I asked her to custom mine to say "blogger" and I couldn't have been more happy with the results. When she came out with extenders to turn your bow ties into belts, I immediately got one. I love that I can now use it for more than just a bow tie. It definitely went will with this dress and just like the last time I used it, it was a hit.
