Last month I had the pleasure of being gifted a few pieces from the contemporary plus size fashion brand SWAK Designs by the lovely Sarah Sapora. I've known about this brand for a while and have been coveting pieces but never purchased anything, so it was wonderful to receive 3 of their most popular pieces on the site. I immediately fell in love with each piece, but one of them was definitely out of my comfort zone and that was the Kayla Dress. It's a simple but lovely tank dress that leaves nothing to the imagination, if you know what I mean lol I normally don't wear anything clingy especially since I carry most of my weight in the middle, tummy area. I tried it on and was a wee bit uncomfortable due to it being form fitting, but I promised myself that I would take more risks this year and step out of my comfort zone as much as possible. So to challenge myself I decided to see how many looks I could get with one dress. Amazingly I came up with quite a few using pieces from my own closet and decided to showcase these three. I braved the cold weather Sunday and for the first time I used my tripod and little remote control to take my own pictures. Despite probably catching pneumonia, I think I did a great job for a first try!
LOOK #1
With the first look, I wanted to take the dress head on and stop being self-conscious about clingy clothing. I wore the dress with a belt to give me more of a waist and ruched the middle of it a little. I added my denim jacket with leopard print and my cognac knee boots for a casual chic look. (Please excuse my crooked belt, that's what happens when you don't have someone else taking your pics lol)

LOOK #2
With look two, I decided to turn the dress into a skirt by wearing my denim top from Forever 21 and adding a belt to give the top more shape. Switched up the jewelry and added a pair of leopard print kitten heel booties.

LOOK #3
For the last look, I paired the dress with an Aztec print open front coat that I belted to give me a more structured look but still show off the dress. Added a bold necklace and my black knee high boots and I'm ready for a night out!

Gotta love the olive green. To me its like the new "black" and can be paired up with just about everything it seems.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and I love how you dressed up the kayla dress.
Thank you for stopping by! Much appreciated!
DeleteVery cute! Look #3 is my fave :)
ReplyDeleteThanks sweetie!! xoxo
DeleteGood for you for trying a different style than you'd normally go for. I would be a little self-conscious about a tank dress and clinging on my tummy, but you've styled it in ways I think I could manage, too and still feel confident. You've definitely shown how versatile the dress is. My fave look is the third one with the chunky knit sweater!
