728x90 | Spring Refresh 5.1

Hi Lovies,

The summer is all about having fun and enjoying yourself, whether it be going on vacation, enjoying a day at the beach or a long walk in the park. As for me, my wardrobe has to be fun as well for the summer. Bright colors, bold patterns and prints, anything that will put a smile on my face. Honestly it just makes my day better when my outfit is fun. I've already spoke about how I am obsessed with the fruit trend, well it hasn't stopped. This Fruit Salad Dress from City Chic via Gwynnie Bee just screams fun and playful. This cheerful print is so charming with all the adorable fruit print and vibrant colors. The fit and flare design is so flattering and the sweetheart neckline adds a little flirtiness to the dress. Not to mention how lightweight and easy to wear it is. If you're looking to make a statement this summer then you need this dress in your life. I think it's safe to say that this dress is definitely a #BorrownBuy.

June PopSugar Must Have Box

Hi Lovies,

If you've been following me for a while then you know I am a sucker for a monthly subscription box. I just love getting packages in the mail, it's like Christmas every month lol. My favorite are the beauty ones like The Ipsy Bag, Sephora Play Box and Boxy Charm (check out my video here). But I'm also my fashion ones as well like Gwynnie Bee and Dia & Co. So recently I added another one to my list and it's called the PopSugar Must Have Box. I've been a fan of PopSugar for years and I was super excited when I heard they came out with a subscription box. What I love about this box is that it has a little bit of everything in it, from fashion to beauty and even food! I also love that each month is a themed and the items in the box reflect that theme. Each item is thoughtfully hand-picked by the founder Lisa Sugar and their amazing editors, so you know everything is going to be awesome. The monthly subscription cost $39.95 and includes 7 full size items that is valued at over $100. I think that is a great deal and if you use the code SHOP5 you get $5 off you're first box!

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to clothing for the summer, I don't like to invest too much into it. Here in NYC the summer is only 2 months and is over in a flash. So I tend to buy clothes that are budget friendly since they spend a majority of their time in a bin for most of the year. This is when I really utilize my Gwynnie Bee subscription, because it gives me the option of having a fabulous wardrobe with no commitment. I've spoken about GB numerous times here on my blog and have been a subscriber since the beginning. If you've been living under a rock and don't know about Gwynnie Bee, they are a clothing rental subscription service for women sizes 10-32. Subscribers choose from different plans (and prices) depending on how many items they want to have out at a time.  Subscribers browse the collection, select items that they like, select their size (based on size charts for each brand) and put them in their closet. Once a minimum number of items are "closeted," new members are sent a box with their first items, depending on the plan they chose. You can keep the items for as long as you want without commitment or if you really like something, you have the option to buy it at a discounted price. Shipping is super quick and I love getting treats in the mail. When you're done with the items, just pop it into the prepaid envelope they provide you with and drop it into your nearest mailbox, it's as simple as that! Like what you've heard, well this is your chance to join free for 30 days HERE.

Lemon Drop

Hi Lovies,

In one of my older post I discussed how the fruit trend has taken the fashion scene by storm. You can find clothing adorned with different fruit prints which I am all about. If it has fruit on it them I'm buying it. Strangely enough the fruit that I've seen the most lately is the Lemon. Seems like the lemon is the "It" fruit for the season, like this dress I wore via Gwynnie Bee. Today I'm bringing you lemon goodness via Ashley Stewart with this gorgeous Lemon Print Cold Shoulder Dress (currently 50% off!). I first saw this dress on my fellow blogger Nazira in the black version and immediately ran to the website to buy it. Besides the charming lemon print, I fell in love with the frilly cold shoulder design and high collar neckline. The chiffon overlay makes this dress extremely fun and feminine while still remaining sophisticated. This is definitely a dress for the season that you can wear for any occasion.

Pineapples and Pool Parties

Hi Lovies,

This past Sunday was the 3rd Annual Essie Golden Golden Confidence Pool Party and as per usual, it was a great event. If you been following me for a while then you know I attended the previous two years (see here and here). This year it was held at the Room Mate Grace Hotel in the heart of Times Square. The activities took place in their indoor Pool Bar area which was super cool. They had a nice lounge area where you could sit and enjoy some drinks or if you wanted to be by the pool, there was also available seating to chill. The nights events consisted of great music, food, drinks, swimsuit fashion shows, raffles and of course beautiful women of all sizes dressed in gorgeous swimsuits. An event like this wouldn't be complete with out some shopping, there was also a vendor area with brands such as Eloquii, Lane Bryant, and Feminine Funk. I enjoyed myself just kicking it with my girls, having some cocktails, and taking ALOT of pics. If you've never been to this event, I highly recommend putting it on your calendar for next year because it's totally worth it!

Mexican Vibes

Hi Lovies,

As you saw in one of my recent post, I've totally been into the peasant look. I just love how simple and pretty this trend is. Embroidery has also been playing a big part in fashion these days as well which also ties into the peasant trend. It's popping up literally everywhere, like in this Flutter Sleeve Top from Melissa McCarthy Seven7. This chambray top is so cute and feminine, with the flirty ruffle sleeves. The whimsical embroidered birds take a simple top and gives it such character. I love that it also has a tie back feature to give you the option to define your waist. Perfect to pair with a pair of white denim for a causal summer look or with a skirt as I did here.

Taking On Philly With Catherine's

Hi Lovies,

If you follow me on Instagram and watched my stories, then you know I was recently in Philadelphia with Catherine's. I haven't been to Philly probably since I was a child on a school trip so I was super grateful that Catherine's asked me to be apart of this one. Philadelphia has so much history and we were lucky enough to be led around the beautiful City of Brotherly Love by two Philadelphians, Blogger Kellie Brown and Kate O'Brien from the Catherine's team. They had so much fun stuff planned for the next 3 days, I couldn't wait to get started.  What was even more fun was I got to enjoy this trip with 2 of my fabulous blogger babes Jeniese of The Jenesaisquoi and Alex of Learning to be Fearless. Can we say girl's weekend!

Ruffles

Hi Lovies,

Last week was Full Figure Fashion Week and that means tons of events to attend. While this year I wasn't able to attend a lot of them due to work, I was able to go to a few. I love this time of year because bloggers and influencers from all over come to NYC to enjoy this week. I get to see and meet a lot of bloggers that I basically only know via social media. So it's great to finally meet them in person and connect on a personal level. One of my favorite events is the FFFWeek Curvy Expo, it's an awesome way to network with brands, hang with your fav bloggers and of course shop. Not to mention it also gives you an opportunity to dress to impress. I finally got to pull out my Pinstripe Ruffles Wrap Skirt from Eloquii, talk about a show stopper! I loved the exaggerated ruffles on the hem along with the simple pinstripe print. The flattering wrap style just added to this beautiful skirt as well as give it some structure. It's was sophisticated and dramatic all in one skirt while remaining super girly. Definitely the perfect skirt for an event like the Expo, I was overwhelmed with all the compliments I got on it. I can't wait to wear it again!

Dotted

Hi Lovies,

Well mother nature finally realized that it's about to be summer and turned up the heat this weekend. New York summers are literally pure torture, with the heat and humidity, you just want to walk around naked. Now when the temps get up into the 80's and 90's, all I want to wear is nothing but light easy breezy clothing. My go-to are dresses during the summer, it's an easy one and done quick thing to throw on and still looked pulled together. As you guys know I love clothing that can work double duty as well since I do have a 9-5. So finding dresses that I can easily wear to work and then for play are a must. A perfect example is this beautiful dotted shirt dress from Tocca. Now if you remember a few months ago I featured a dress from their exclusive collection with Gwynnie Bee (see here). TOCCA is known for its beautifully wearable pieces that exude a feminine, sexy edge and contemporary beauty products inspired by the Old World. When this dress popped up on the Gwynnie Bee website, I immediately closeted it, so had my name written all over it. I loved the mixture of colorful polka dots which give the dress a whimsical feel. The shirt dress design is super classic making it this dress perfect for work. You already know how I feel about a dress with pockets, and these add such character to the dress. I don't think I'll be returning this dress back to GB, it's definitely a keeper!

Peasant Girl

Hi Lovies,

I was definitely born in the wrong decade, I say this to myself every time I get dressed. I am so drawn to clothing from different periods, like back in Elizabethan times. I loved the huge dresses they had to wear, they were such statements for that time. I also had an unhealthy obsession with Little House in the Prairie as well. As mean as Nelly Olsen was, I wanted all of her clothes lol! Peasant dresses are also one of my favorites as well, I admire the simplicity of them. This Off the Shoulder Crinkle version from Roaman's was definitely a modern twist to the everyday peasant dress. The burnt orange color along with the floral print was such a pretty combination. The delicate ruffle hem and off the shoulder design is so feminine and sexy. This dress is also extremely comfy, loved the way it felt on my body. Great to wear on the weekend for brunch with your girls and with a quick change of your accessories can easily transform into a night look. Peasant dresses are definitely a must for the upcoming summer months.

Floral Jumpersuit

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to my fashion style, I can be pretty predictable. I'm either going to go for a dress or a skirt, those are my signatures. But just like fashion, my style is always evolving or so I try to anyway. Jumpsuits are one of those things that I thought I could never pull off and stayed away from. I loved the way they looked on people and longed to be able to look as good in one. It wasn't until last summer that I actually took the plunge and gave one a whirl. I instantly loved how I looked in it and promised I would wear more of them. Fast forward to last month when I saw my Boo Georgette of Grown and Curvy Woman wearing this amazing Floral Jumpsuit during her trip to Cuba. It was absolutely stunning and perfect for the summer season. The bold colorful print was such a statement while the comfy linen material gave it some delicacy. I loved that it had a elasticized waist with a removable belt to give the jumpsuit some shape. Of course I added my own belt to give the look a little twist of me. This is definitely one of those one-and-done pieces that will have you looking effortlessly chic all summer long.

Patchwork

Hi Lovies,

I love when fashion trends or styles of the past make their way back around again. This year alone we've seen so many styles that brought me back to my youth like bomber jackets. shoulder pad and customized denim jackets. One trend that I've been seeing around the fashion scene as of late is patchwork jeans. This pair from Roaman's is totally giving me nostalgia and transporting me back to the 80's. I love the mixture of the light wash and white denim that are so spring like along with the semi boyfriend fit giving off a relaxed fit. You get great versatility with them as they can easily be worn dressed up or down. These are definitely a pair of stylish  jeans that you need in your collection that can be worn all year round.

On Wednesday We Wear Pink

Hi Lovies,

As I've gotten older, I noticed that my style has definitely changed. There are days where I want to be super comfortable and wear a pair of jeans with some sneakers. But then I have my days where I want to be ladylike AF lol. Actually in all honesty this happens more than I want to admit. I love getting dressed up and being as girly as possible. For me wearing pink is synonymous with being a girl and while some might think its cliche, I'm all about it. This Jacquard Drop Waist Dress from the Victoria Beckham x Target collection was the perfect sophisticated lady like dress. If you read my previous post on this collection, then you know that out of all the pieces I bought only 2 worked for me, and this was one of them. This dress was giving me all types of Jackie O vibes, the perfect combo of classic and fashion forward. The drop waist gave the dress a flirty vibe along with the front patch pocket that added such character. The fuchsia color was so bold and vibrant, making this dress such a statement. As a working woman I need clothes that can pull double duty and this is definitely a versatile piece. I can easily wear this from day to night with a quick switch of my accessories and shoes and I'm good to go.

When Life Gives You Lemons

Hi Lovies,

Yesterday was Mother's Day and while I am a mother, this day isn't the same for me anymore. This will be my third Mother's Day without my beautiful Mom who was called to Heaven almost 3 years ago. You would think it would get easier but unfortunately for me is hasn't. Losing my Mom was one of the hardest things I have ever had to deal and continue to deal with everyday. So while I am super sad on Mother's Day, I continue to celebrate her memory and thank god for all the wonderful women in my life. Whether their mothers or not, I am thankful for the special role they play in my life. My mom always told me not to live in the past but to embrace what the future has to hold for us, and that's what I do now. I will always continue to miss my mother, that's never going to change, but I will celebrate the now and all the blessings that I have. My heart will remain heavy on this day but it's good to know that I have friends and family to help lighten the weight.

Casual Dressing with Dress Barn

Hi Lovies,

I live for those days where you don't have to put any effort into a look but still want to look cute. Who what of thought that I could find that type of clothing in Dress Barn? When I think of DB, I think of a place I would go to get clothes for work, but it has evolved into so much more. Their DB Sunday line is all about causal, comfy lounge wear pieces that are fashionable as well as functional. This Space-Dye Hoodie was one of my favorite pieces, incredible soft and comfortable. The space-dye print along with the soft peachy coral is so spring. The hood and kangaroo pouch pockets gave this top such an athleisure feel and the short sleeves made it easy to wear for this season. This has easily become one of my favorite tops to grab for the weekend.

Calla Lily

Hi Lovies,

By now I'm sure most of you have seen the Victoria Beckham for Target collection. When I saw a preview of the collection back in February, I fell in love with everything. I couldn't be more happier that the collection came in plus size as well. Not mention the pricing was super reasonable for this kind of collab.  I was drawn to the 60's Mod style, the silhouettes, prints and bold colors that were perfect for the spring. I was one of those folks up super early to grab some of these amazing pieces. Unfortunately none of the Target stores in my area carried the plus sizes so I took a chance with sizing and ordered a bunch of dresses all in size 3X. Surprisingly, my packages arrived within 2 days which never happens when I order from Target. I immediately opened the package and was so happy with the amazing quality of the pieces. But sadly out of six dresses I ordered I only kept two, one being this gorgeous Calla Lily Satin Ruffle Hem Dress

Solving My Shapewear Problems With Kohl's

This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I received the included shapewear as compensation.

Hey Lovies,

One of the most daunting task for a woman, next to finding a swimsuit, is finding the right shapewear. This can also be a touchy subject for some people, shapewear isn't for everyone and I can totally understand. But this girl here is all about having the proper foundation so that the clothes I wear look amazing on. Now in a perfect world, there would be one shapewear that works with everything. Unfortunately that is not the case, certain articles of clothing require a different type of foundation. Well thank goodness for Kohl's, they had such a great variety of shapewear for all my needs.

Floral Love

Hi Lovies,

It's hard to believe that this past Saturday was in the upper 80's here in NYC. I could actually pull out my sandals and let me tootsies be free. Not to mention grabbing something floral from my closet that will make a statement as well. You already know my love of bold prints, bright colors and fun florals for the spring/summer seasons. Finding a fun floral is not always easy but when you do, definitely take advantage especially when you can find in one of your fav silhouettes. The Kate Dress from Roaman's was the perfect addition to my wardrobe for the season. The shirt dress design along with the beautiful blue floral print made this such a lively dress. I love the structure feel of it and how easy it was to wear with the flattering trapeze style fit. The versatility of this dress makes it easy to wear in so many ways. Whether you wear it for work or play, this dress will definitely be a head turner.

Getting my Groove Back

Hi Lovies,

There are times in my blogging life where I can hit a wall and kinda lose my groove. It's hard sometimes to keep the creative juices flowing and continue to produce fresh content. A lot of things can factor into that, like your personal life, or stress from work. I also promised myself that I wouldn't let blogging become a chore or a job. I want to always look my blog as a source of happiness and make it something that I'm proud of. That's why it's ok to take a step back, give yourself a break and reboot. This is a great way to get a better perspective of what you're doing and open your eyes to the bigger picture. Not only that but it'll give your mind a chance to chill so that when you are ready, the creativeness will be in abundance.

In The Trenches

Hi Lovies,

So my obsession with Eloquii has grown to a whole new high as of late. I've found myself purchasing something from them almost every week. But to my defense they have been slaying the fashion game for this spring season and it's almost a crime not buy something. They also just recently dropped their swimsuit collection and all I can say is OMG! You definitely need to check them out ASAP. Now I am all about dresses that are different and unconventional. So when I feasted my eyes on the Off The Shoulder Trench Dress, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to have it. This dress sold out so quickly but thank goodness it just came back in stock! They took a classic and iconic piece of outerwear and made it into a masterpiece of a dress. The off the shoulder design adds a flirty touch while the trench aspect keeps it looking polished and sophisticated. The A-Line silhouette and self tie belt makes it super flattering. Who needs a power suit when you can have the ultimate power dress, am I right??

Birds of Paradise

Hi Lovies,

Happy Monday all! Spring has finally made it's way over to NYC and we have been having the best weather. Easter Sunday was in the 80's! I don't know about you but this type of weather puts me in the best mood. Especially when it comes to getting dressed, all I want to wear are my fun pieces of clothing. In one of my previous post, I mentioned how the fruit trend has become very popular this season. Well besides fruits, animals and birds have been hitting the scene as well. I just love the whimsical and lively feel of this trend. and one brand that gets this is Eloquii. When I first saw this skirt on their Instagram Live during the opening party of their DC pop-up shop, I nearly died. It has stripes and colorful parrots on it, nuff said!  This playful print just made me so happy not to mention catching the eye of quite of few people. Eloquii's signature studio midi never disappoints and this skirt is definitely Bae right now.

Who What Wear

Hi Lovies,

I know I am totally late to the party with the Who What Wear Collection for Target. Honestly I don't know what took me so long to actually buy something. I've loved everything they've had since they first launched last year with their spring collection. Since then they have been adding to the collection with each season and I've been loving it. Not only has the pieces been on trend, stylish and fashion forward but they made this collection size inclusive. The collection is available in plus with sizes ranging from 14W-26W which in my book is pretty amazing. Their newest stuff definitely caught my eye and I ended up buying quite a few pieces. I just really loved the Retro-Modern vibe of the collection. The simple colors, patterns and silhouette of the pieces are such a refreshing and effortless look for the spring.

Plus Size Remix: Crystalin Marie

Hi Lovies,

It's that time of the month again, I am back with another Plus Size Remix! I am so sorry that I didn't get one out for March, but it was a bit crazy last month. If this is your first time to the blog, PSR is a monthly feature where I take a look that inspires me and remix it into a plus size version. Make sure to catch last month's inspiration featuring Hallie of Among Other Things. This months inspiration came from Crystalin Marie of the blog Crystalin Marie. I totally love her blog, her style is very simple and classic with a touch of flare. I love how she adds pops of color or print to jazz up an easy look. She makes getting dressed look super easy all while remaining stylish. I love how she mentions in her bio that her style is always evolving and she hopes her daily posts not only inspire us to feel confident and stylish everyday, but encourages us to invest in classic pieces, use what you already have in your closet, and to make smart buying decisions. That is awesome!
