La Pecosa Preciosa

Double Trouble

Hi Lovies!!

Now that Christmas is over, we can now focus on what fabulous outfit we're going to wear to welcome in the new year. Whether you're staying home with family, spending it with friends or going to a fabulous party for New Years Eve, finding this outfit can be a daunting task for some. Well now there's a company that can help you with that. Dia & Co. is an online personal styling service for the plus size woman (14-32). You first take an online survey that has a series of questions about your style, personal preference, sizing, price ranges and what you're looking to add to your wardrobe. After you're done filling out the survey, a personal stylist will give you a call to get more in depth about your style. Once your stylist has all the info she needs, you will receive an email letting you know that your personally styled box is on it's way to you. Your box should contain at least 5 items of clothing. When you've had a chance to go through your box, if there's anything that doesn't work, Dia & Co provides a mailing envelope for you to send the items back for free. There is a $20 styling fee, if you decide to buy anything from your box, the fee will be credited towards your purchase. How cool is that?!

Christmas with Harper + Liv

Hi Lovies,

We are now t-minus 2 days to Christmas and I'm still not finished shopping. I always say I'm going to start early and it never happens, but I digress. The one thing I did get done was choosing my outfits for the holidays. For Christmas I definitely wanted to wear something that was different and not the traditional holiday look. Something fun and colorful was my goal and this Harper + Liv Printed Illusion Dress totally fit the bill. The beautiful geometric print makes such a bold statement with its pinks and green color combo. The Sweetheart design with sultry mesh panels and inverted pleats give this dress some sexiness. This may be too short for some folks, I'm 5'6 and it's hitting me above my knee. So keep that in mind before buying.

Winter Florals

Hi Lovies,

I'm always looking for ways to get the most out of my wardrobe. During the winter, I love to take my sleeveless dresses and give them a new look by wearing a top underneath. This Floral Dress from Modamix was perfect with the beautiful winter colors, and super comfortable material. I loved the fit and design which is very flattering, along with the exposed front zipper made this dress a little sexy. This can easily go great with a turtlenecks, button up shirts or a Bow Blouse like this one from Charlotte Russe. It just takes a simple dress and transforms the look completely and the colors complemented each other so well. Since old man winter decided to show his face this pass weekend, I had to pull out a warmer coat. My Halloway Belted Coat from Fashion to Figure was just what I need to finish off this look. I was ready to hit the streets and enjoy Saturday brunch with my Beau.

Style Challenge with Gwynnie Bee: Blouse with Bow

Hi Lovies!

I love a challenge, especially a style challenge. It pushes me to get my creative juices flowing and kinda think out the box. So when Gwynnie Bee contacted me about participating in their monthly feature on their blog "One style, three ways" along with 2 other bloggers, I was more than happy to do it. If you've not familiar with them, they are basically Netflix but for plus size clothing. Subscribers choose from different plans (and prices) depending on how many items they want to have out at a time.  Subscribers browse the collection, select items that they like, select their size (based on size charts for each brand) and put them in their closet. Once a minimum number of items are "closeted," new members are sent a box with their first items, depending on the plan they chose. You can keep the items for as long as you want without commitment or if you really like something, you have the option to buy it at a discounted price. Shipping is super quick and I love getting treats in the mail. When you're done with the items, just pop it into the prepaid envelope they provide you with and drop it into your nearest mailbox, it's as simple as that! Modamix Resort Collection

Hi Lovies,

Last month me and my blogger boo Darlene of Suits, Heels and Curves had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot with one of our fav brands Modamix. By now you know that the Modamix team is practically family to me and I just adore them. I believe in their passion to make amazing plus size clothing and the dedication they put in. If you're not familiar with this brand, check out a few posts I've done here and here. The shoot we did was for their new Resort Collection and it's just awesome! It has a little bit of everything, bold prints, different textures and materials. I love that this collection has an edgy athleisure design to it but still remains very feminine. Modamix never disappoints when it comes to style and quality of their clothing. It was definitely fun to be able to dress up in these fantastic pieces and pretend to be a model for the day! Some of the collection is currently available online at Lord & Taylor, the rest will be available next month, so make sure to keep your eyes out for it! Here a few pictures from the shoot.

The "Not So" Ugly Christmas Sweater

Hi Lovies!

With the holidays comes tons of parties and the most popular one is the "Ugly Sweater" party. While most people love this one, I on the other hand is not in the business of buying anything ugly. Don't get me wrong, I do like the idea of it, so in the spirit of the holidays I decided to attend one. Finding a sweater was not difficult, as there are tons of plus size Christmas sweaters options. I didn't want to spend a lot on one because I wouldn't be wearing it often, so I decided to head over to my Forever 21. I was pleasantly pleased with the selection and found this perfect "Not So" ugly sweater. I fell in love with the reindeer graphic made from gold and red sequins, it was so festive and adorable. Paring it with my Ashley Stewart Hi-Low Neoprene Skirt was such a great combo. The red color complimented the sweater well and the hi-lo design gave it a more high end look. I also love how much volume the skirt had, and with my gold heels I felt super glam. We can definitely say I didn't win the Ugly Sweater contest this year! *Kanye Shrug*

I love that it has something for everyone, from skirts to jackets, dresses, jumpsuits, vests, the choices are endless. Bad Ass Fairy Princess

Hi Lovies,

When dressing for the holidays, I like to keep it fun and playful. In my book, nothings more fun and playful than a tulle skirt. There's just something about them that are so whimsical and make you think of fairies. Tulle skirts have definitely come a long way, you can find them now in different colors, lengths and styles. This Metallic Layered one from Lane Bryant (sold out online, check in stores) just screams holiday with the beautiful gold color and tiered design. You will definitely feel like a fairy princess in this skirt.

Dash and Bash with Lane Bryant

Hi Lovies!

The holidays are fully upon us now and with that comes countless parties, family gatherings and NYE bashes. I don't know about you but I always struggle with what I am going to wear for these occasions. So to make things a little easier, me and few of my bloggers babes Jamie, Georgette, Darlene, Jeniese and Pepper decided to create a Holiday Look book with Lane Bryant and their current hashtag #DashandBash. Since all of our styles are different, we each picked an occasion (home for the holidays, casual x-mas, casual NYE, formal party, Office Holiday Party and NYE) and chose an outfit that we would wear for it. It was definitely a fun way to get into the holiday spirit and get my creative juices flowing.

Rocker Chic

Hi Lovies!!

I know I've been MIA via the blog and I sincerely apologize for that. I recently moved from Manhattan to The Bronx so blogging had to be put on pause. I've spent the last week off from work getting myself settled. It has been a chore trying to fit all my things in a much smaller space but I am making it work. It's is definitely a transition for me since I've lived in Spanish Harlem all my life but I am getting use to it. Now that things are semi back to normal, I can get back on my blogging game. My new favorite thing to wear right now are sweater dresses, they are simple and easy to wear and can be worn casually or dressed up. This Turtle Neck Sweater Dress from Charlotte Russe was such a great addition to my closet. Perfect for those chilly days that are soon to come here in NYC. The chunky knit material is super cozy and warm and I love the pretty mauve color. Right now CR is offering 40% off so this would be the perfect time to pick this baby up!

Lord & Taylor Holiday Event with Modamix

Hi Lovies!

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Lord & Taylor Holiday Event. It was also the day they revealed their window displays on 5th Ave so whole store was buzzing with holiday spirit. In celebration, each floor was having some kind of event going on. The 6th floor, which is where the plus size section is, had a fashion show. They were showcasing some of the plus size brands they carry and how you can get ready in style for the holidays. Modamix was one of the brands and as you know I'm a huge fan of their clothes, they are like family to me. The team asked me, and my blogger boos Darlene of Suits, Heels, and Curves and Jamilyn of Style over Size to come dressed up all in Modamix and support them at the event. Of course we all said yes and couldn't wait to show up and show out!

The Cape Blazer

Hi Lovies,

The Cape Blazer has hit the fashion world by storm, and I am obsessed with them. They take the everyday normal blazer up a notch and add just the right amount of flare to any outfit. This one from Eloquii is nothing shy of that. When this hit the site, folks went bonkers and of course it immediately sold out. I missed out on the first round but was able to snag one when it was restocked and I couldn't be more happy. As usual Eloquii spared no expense making this cape blazer, it fits like a dream and the quality is amazing. This is a piece that you will have forever and has instantly become a wardrobe staple.

Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant

Hey Lovies!

Don't you hate how some deodorants can ruin your clothes by leaving white residue on it. Or after applying it and you slip on your shirt, you get white streaks on your clothes? Well those days are over, there is finally a spray on deodorant that knocks this out the box. The folks over at Dove sent me the new Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant to review and join the #TryDry experience. I've been using these deodorants for a few weeks now and they work like a dream. I know you're thinking that most spray deodorants go on super wet and you have to stand there with your arms up in the air hoping it dries. Well Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant provides all the care of Dove for softer, smoother underarms. It goes on instantly dry for a cleaner feel while offering the brand's signature 1/4 moisturizing technology as well as providing 48-hour odor and wetness protection. It's like magic in a spray can!

Crop Top Classy

Hi Lovies!!

I know for some women, wearing a crop top can be terrifying, I myself felt that way for a long while. I felt that I had too much tummy to sport one or since I'm in the 40 and over group, it was inappropriate to wear one. But what inspired me to get over my fear is seeing other women, like me, wearing them with such confidence, not a care in the world of what anyone thought. So fast forward to now and I am just as confident in my skin as I want to be and wearing a crop is like wearing any other piece of clothing. Now for me, I always style my crop tops with a skirt, so this matching set from Rue 107 was right up my alley. I loved how sexy the Naomie Bralette is with the halter type straps, that you can tie in a bunch of ways. The fit was great and it didn't rise up after a while. Since the top is so sexy, the Paige Circle Skirt helped to give some balance to the look without over doing it. Just like the Tyra Cheetah Circle Skirt that I wore in a previous post (see here), this one didn't disappoint. It's simple but can be styled in so many ways and take you from season to season.

Lady Like

Hi Lovies!!

Being known as a girly-girl is something I take pride in, I love my dresses and skirts all day, everyday. I'm not that girl who wears sweats or yoga pants on the weekend to run around in, nor do I own sneakers. Nothing gives me more pleasure that getting dressed up and I totally get that from my Mother. Up until the day she passed, she made sure she always looked presentable. My motto is "You never know who you're going to run into" so I like to be prepared lol. Pleated skirts are the ultimate lady like item, they remind me of being in elementary school and my mom would dress me up in them. Now as a grown woman, it's great that I can still wear one and it be appropriate. The pleated skirt has definitely evolved, you can find them in a bunch of different fabrics, styles and colors, my current favorite is the faux leather version. It seems like everyone is jumping on the faux leather pleated skirt bandwagon and that's wonderful, I'm all about having options. When I first saw this burgundy one from Charlotte Russe Plus, I nearly fell over. It was the perfect fall staple and the color was amazing, not to mention budget friendly. I ordered this beauty back in July and unfortunately it sold out pretty quick but I've given you some other options below.

Birthday Girl

Hi Lovies,

Being born on Halloween was always super fun for me when I was a kid, it was the best of both worlds. I looked forward to dressing up in a fun costumes and having a party with my family and friends. Now that I'm older I'm not as into getting dressed up but more about finding the perfect birthday outfit. This year I turned 42 and I wanted to wear something sexy but classy. The LBD is always the way to go, it's timeless, classic and sophisticated. Cape dresses have quickly become super popular, and it takes the LBD to the next level, just like this one from Fashion to Figure. I knew I wanted to wear this for my birthday, not only because how chic it looked but it made me feel like a super hero, which was totally appropriate for Halloween lol. It's made of a nice thick scuba material, which holds all my goodies in place and is super comfortable. This dress is definitely out of my comfort zone since I normally don't wear form fitting things but I slapped on my good spanx and hit the streets!

Leopard and Leather

Hey Lovies!!

As much as I wanted to protest Fall, I have totally embraced it and have picked up a bunch of great pieces for the season. You guys know how much I love anything leopard/cheetah print as well as my addiction to skirts. Well, when I saw this skirt from Rue 107, I jumped for joy, it was the best of both worlds. This was my first time trying out Rue 107 but I had heard such good things about them. They are known for their colorful, bold and edgy clothing that make a statement. The Tyra Cheetah Circle Skirt is a little slice of heaven, extremely well made with a nice heavy weight ponte material. It's super forgiving and stretchy which fits comfortably on the waist. The midi length makes for a more sophisticated look which is totally my style. Plus it's the perfect skirt to twirl in, can't get much better than that!

Plus Size Remix: Style of a London Tall Girl

Hi Lovies!!

Well I am finally back with another edition of "Plus Size Remix" and I'm totally sorry that I didn't get around to doing one sooner. If you missed my first 2 remix post, you can see them here and here. This months inspiration comes from Marsha of Style of a London Tall Girl. I adore this woman's style so much, she's just so elegant, sharp and sophisticated. Not to mention she lives in one my favorite places in the world, London. She had so many looks that I wanted to recreate but this look definitely spoke to me. From the gorgeous polka dot midi skirt, to the orange top and pop of blue in her shoes, this was definitely a Sandra outfit.

Adam Lippes for Target Plus Size Collab

Hi Lovies!

As you know, one of the best things about blogging is all the amazing women I have met and have become friends with. It's just great to be around women who share the same interests and support each other in what we do. Now as much as I wish they all lived in NYC so we can see each other more often, they don't. But I do spend a good amount of time with the ones that do, like my girls Darlene of Suit, Heels and Curves and Jamilyn of Style over Size. Our styles are very similar, so much so that we ended up ordering some of the same pieces from the Adam Lippes for Target collection. One of the pieces being this Plaid Belted Sweater Vest. We decided since we all had the vest, why not do a collab together to show our own unique styles.

Sweater Weather

Hi Lovies!!

Sweater weather is fully upon us now, especially this weekend with the temps dipping down to the 30's! (I wasn't ready!!) There's nothing better than a nice cozy sweater to keep you toasty, even more so a sweater dress. This one from Charlotte Russe+ was perfect for Saturday brunch with my babe. I was super comfortable in this dress but still felt sexy and stylish. The length was perfect to wear with my knee high boots and could easily be worn belted with a pair of leggings or jeans. It's definitely a versatile piece and for $33 bucks, I couldn't pass it up.

Pur Minerals Lip Lure Review

Hi Lovies,

Since doing my first beauty review back in August (see here), I've had quite a few companies reach out to me to test and review their products. One of the companies, which I wasn't too familiar with, was Pur Minerals, They sent me their new "Lip Lure" Hydrating Lip Lacquers and I couldn't have been more excited to try them out.

Window Pane and Fringe

Hi Lovies!

By now I'm sure most of you have seen the new Target collaboration with Adam Lippes. It's great that Target is continuing to have great collabs with different designers. When I first checked out the look book with Adam Lippes a few months back, I was very impressed with what I saw. I fell in love with the plaid/window pane prints, which is a favorite of my mine. I was also happy that they were going to make it available online in plus sizes. I anxiously awaited for Sept 27th to roll around so I can jump on my laptop and order a few things. The one piece that I had to have was this shirt dress, I swooned over it the minute I saw model Denise Bidot wearing it in the look book. I adore shirt dresses, and this one just tugged at my heart strings. The brush stroked plaid design made this dress super sharp and sophisticated but also very sexy with the high side slits. I wanted the dress to speak for itself and basically just threw on some over the knee boots, a bag and headed out the door. This will make for a great laying piece for Fall and Winter, there are so many style possibilities!

Denim and Camo

Hi Lovies!

This fall I've decided that I want to be all about comfort when it comes to my outfits. Since it's not one of my favorite seasons, I at least want be comfortable, right? Dresses are definitely a great way to achieve this as well as simplifying your life. Even more so with a denim shirt dress, which is a wardrobe staple and looks good on everyone. Just like this Braided Belt Denim Tunic from Ashley Stewart. I really liked that it was longer in length than most denim dresses and came with a cute brown braided belt. Of course you could definitely swap that out for one of your own to change up the look.

Falling over Capes

Hi Lovies

Now that Fall is officially here I can start getting into my outerwear. There are so many cool styles popping up on the scene and my current favorite are capes. I really like the way they look and how they can take any outfit to the next level. Not to mention how wearing one always makes me feel like Sherlock Holmes, who I adore (don't judge me!). Recently while browsing the Fashion to Figure website I came across this adorable Madeline Dotted Zip Cape and instantly fell in love with it. It was simple but super chic at the same time. I loved the easy zip up closure and wide arm slits which made for easy mobility. It's perfect for the weather right now here in NYC but can definitely be worn in the colder months with a thick turtle neck.

Karina Dresses

Hi lovies!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the folks of Karina Dresses to review one of their dresses. I am always down to check out a brand/company that carries both straight and plus sizes. While perusing the site, the first thing that caught my eye was that their dresses are American handmade and crafted with limited edition fabric in Brooklyn, NY. Gotta love a brand who makes their product right here in my home of NYC. As I continued to look through the site, I was totally impressed with what I saw, the dresses had a vintage look about them but still fashion forward. The prints were very eye catching and fun. I also loved that each dress had a name, which totally gave them a whimsical flare. All the dresses are made of this amazing material that feels great on the body, super forgiving and best of all wrinkle free! Yup, you heard me right, wrinkle free. Who doesn't like a dress that you can just throw on and literally walk out the door. That's an A+ in my book.

Fashion to Figure Denim: Weekend Look

Hey Lovies!

For my last and final look featuring Fashion to Figure Denim is my favorite, the weekend look. When it comes to the weekend, I don't want to have to over think about what I am going to wear. My outfit should definitely be easy breezy and no nonsense. My denim of choice for the weekend are definitely a pair of Boyfriend Jeans, they are super comfortable, casual and go with almost anything. The FTF boyfriend jeans are amazing, they aren't super baggy and are a great fit. I love the distressing on them and the faded wash which gives them a little edgy look. These can totally be dressed up as well with a cute pair of heels or booties. Every woman should have a pair of these in their wardrobe, they are for sure a staple.
