Forever Evolving

700x205 Hi Lovies,

The other day my eldest niece April told me that my style is always evolving. I was actually shocked by her comment because I feel sometimes I'm stuck in a fashion rut. But then I really thought about it, looked back at the past 5 years and how much my style has actually grown and evolved. While I love having a signature style that people identify me with, I love to throw a few curve balls in there once in a while. As of late I have been stepping out of my fashion bubble and I'm truly loving it. Wearing jeans was one of those obstacles for me, no one ever associated me with them. Now if you look in my closet you will see an abundance of them in all kinds of styles and fits. My most recent favorites are from the Rebel Wilson x Angels collection. Her jeans are just amazing quality and the fit is perfection. These Mogul Pull on Jeggings have been in heavy rotation, I love the super skinny fit from thigh to ankle and comfortable 3 button closure waist. There's amazing recovering on these so there's no stretching around the waist or sagging at the knees. Perfect for everyday, to dress up or down, you definitely need these jeans in your arsenal.

Girl with Curves x Dia & Co.

Hi Lovies,

Before I jumped into the world of Plus Size Fashion blogging, I was an avid reader of PS blogs. I would spend hours just reading through them and enjoying how these women, who looked like me, could be so confident with their style. I had my fave bloggers of course that I loved and actually inspired me to start my own blog. Most of these bloggers paved the way in the plus size community and are a constant inspiration to so many women out there. One of my all time favorites is Tanesha  Awasthi from Girl with Curves. Her style is just timeless, classy and sophisticated which I'm all about. She makes everything she wears just look effortlessly beautiful and poised. Till this day I still read through her blog and continue to use her amazing style to inspire my own. So you can imagine my excitement when she announced that she was coming out with her own GWC Collection

Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

Hi Lovies,

In the world of fashion, there can be many rules that society likes to put on it, especially when it comes to age. They feel a woman of a certain age should be wearing clothing that is age appropriate. Now why I may agree with this to a certain extent, I do believe that women should be able to wear whatever makes them feel good. Being an older women in a world that feels fashion is for the young, I like to push the envelope and show the world that age ain't nothing but a number. With my 44th birthday coming up next week, I've never felt so youthful and daring with my fashion. I want to inspire other women like me to break the rules and show the world we can be just as fashionable as the rest of them.

The Perfect Silhouette

Hi Lovies,

Becoming a blogger has definitely helped me understand my body shape and what works best for it. Honestly once you figure that out, shopping and finding clothing for yourself is a breeze. But sometimes the problem with that is you will stick to one kind of silhouette. Even with myself, I like to keep it safe and go with pieces that I know are going to look good on me. As you know as of late I have been stepping out of my comfort zone and expanding my fashion. That's where my Gwynnie Bee subscription comes into play. I love that I have access to a plethora of brands that I might have never tried before and silhouettes that I was hesitant to try. There's no commitment either, if you get an item that doesn't work, you can easily send it back and try some thing else.

Leather Love

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to the Fall, I am all about wearing different fabrics and textures. One of my favorites fabrics to wear is of course leather. Now most of my leather pieces are faux and there's nothing wrong with that. A lot of the faux leather choices that are out there for plus are made very well and look just as good as the real. Another thing I love about leather is how versatile it is. Most people associate it with being edgy but it can also be very feminine as well. I like the best of both worlds and decided to incorporate them together to create this look which I call Elegantly Edgy. I love a good print and if you've been following me for a while then you know I am obsessed with anything animal print. This Giraffe Print Off the Shoulder Top was the perfect pairing for the skirt. The print added some contrast to the look as well as a touch of sexiness.

Fall Brights

Hi Lovies,

When it comes to the Fall, people instantly think of darker color palettes, whether it be makeup, hair or clothing. While I am guilty of that at times, I do like to incorporate brighter colors as well. There's no rules to fashion that you have to transition into darker colors just because the season changed. This gorgeous dress from the Eloquii x Katie Sturino collection is the perfect example of that. Katie is the the style expert for Eloquii and collaborated with them to create a capsule collection of fall essentials inspired by her signature sporty, cool style. When this collection dropped, I instantly fell in love with this dress. The beautiful bright bold floral print is such a show stopper while still giving off a feminine flare. I am all about a smart and polished look, and the collar and tie bow design definitely achieved that. The fit and flare design is super flattering and looks great on so many different body types. Oh did I mention that it also has pockets?! Since the day I wore this dress was unseasonably warm, I paired it with a cute pair of silver heels. But when the colder days start hitting NYC, I can totally rock this dress with a  moto or denim jacket and some cute booties. I am the type of person who makes their wardrobe work for them, not the other way around. So definitely have fun with your style this fall and see how you can add some brighter colors to your wardrobe.

Fall-ing

Hi Lovies,

While we have officially enter Fall, it seems like Mother Nature didn't get the memo. The temps here in NYC are in the 80's for the last week. So for some it may be hard to think about Fall Fashions at the moment. I on the other hand have been seeking out some new pieces to add to my Fall/Winter wardrobe. All my fave brands are pulling out all the stops this season and I've been in fashion heaven. One site that caught my eye recently was Modcloth. If you remember, I wrote a post this past summer on them and how they are all about being size inclusive with sizes XXS-4X. Which is totally amazing since not many brands do that. What I love about Modcloth is how unique their clothing is with their vintage and kitschy vibe. Not to mention how great the quality of the clothing is as well. While browsing their site recently, I was super excited to see so many cute Fall pieces they had. The first thing to catch my eye was this So Sixties A-Line Dress. I'm all about a good dress and this one had me smitten. The beautiful bright orange color in this gorgeous square textured fabric was the perfect autumnal moment. While the princess-seamed bodice, accent-pleated skirt, and waist-cinching side panels added such femininity to the dress. A great all occasion dress that truly is a conversational piece.

Back on Track

Hi Lovies,

After what seemed like 3 weeks of craziness with The Curvy Con, NYFW and just life, I am back! I can now start to get back to my regularly scheduled program. Today I am bringing you one of my looks for NYFW. I normally do not participate in many events during this time but since a lot plus size brands like Addtion Elle, and Torrid had events and fashion shows, I decided to give it a whirl. Now of course during this time, fashion is at a whole new level, people are stepping out in major style and showing out. While I love to see amazing fashion, I kept true to my personal style and wore things that represented me. Since NYFW days can be long, running from show to show and event to event, I wanted to be stylish but also comfortable. This finally gave me the opportunity to wear this gorgeous skirt from the indie brand Obioma. They are a Maryland based company that specialized in beautiful African print pieces. I was first introduced to them during FFFWeek and immediately fell in love with their amazing clothing. I ended up purchasing 2 pieces from them, a dress and this maxi skirt. It was such a show stopper and quite the statement piece with the vibrant blue color and bold print. Since a style like this is pretty timeless, I will definitely be able to wear this skirt for years to come.

Flounce with Me

Hi Lovies,

Now that summer is close to an end, Fall fashion has taken over by storm. I'm not happy to see it go but I am loving what is out there for the new season. What I do love is when a fashion trend or style that I enjoy transitions over to the next season. Ruffles, bell sleeves and anything flouncy was very popular this past summer and I am so glad to see that it's moved on over to Fall. There's just something about a flounce sleeve that takes me back to the 70's. I love how it can make any silhouette look fancy. This Flounce Medallion Dress from the Avenue couldn't make it's way into my closet faster. I totally fell in love with this beautiful medallion print, along with the rustic fall colors made this such a stunner. The bell sleeves and ruffled hem added such drama to the dress, all I wanted to do was spin around in it. Of course I added my own belt to give it more of a structured look. This dress is the perfect transitional piece, perfect for right now with the comfortable crepe fabric. And in the colder months I can easily wear it with tights, boots and a cool jacket. This is definitely a gem in my book.
