Plus Size Remix: Style Pantry

Hi Lovies!

Well I am FINALLY back with a Plus Size Remix! I have been a bad blogger and the last time I did one of these was back March. That just won't do! So if this is your first time seeing one of my PSR, it's a monthly feature where I take a look  that inspires me and remix it into a plus size version. It's my way of showing my plus size ladies that we can accomplish the same looks even if it's something not in our size. If you missed my previous ones, check out my Pinterest page and make sure to follow the board so you will be notified when I post something new. Today's inspiration comes from one of my favorite straight size blogger Folake of Style Pantry. This woman is so amazing, she's a working mother of 3 and still has time to run a blog and look fabulous everyday. Can we say #GOALS? I am fascinated by her style, she's effortlessly chic at all times. She can pull off an elegant and polished look, then turn around and give you a types of funky, edgy and ultra chic. And can we talk about that hair, just gorgeous! I had been dying to recreate one of her looks for the longest and this one called my attention. I look forward to all her personal style post and you should definitely be following her.

Bringing Summer Into Fall

Hi Lovies!

When it comes to purchasing clothing these days, I am no longer an impulse buyer. I was known for clicking the "add to cart" button way to quick on a item just because I thought it was cute. Never really thinking about how functional the item was or how much use I'd get out of it. Hence my overflowing closet of things that I've only worn once and never looked at again. Now before I click the "add to cart" button I take the time to think about how this article of clothing is going to benefit me and my closet. So even pieces from previous season have to serve a purpose in my closet in some way. One of my favorite things to do is transition summer pieces into fall. You know I love to get a bang for my buck, so when I first got this denim dress from Eloquii I knew that it could easily be worn in the fall/winter months. When I first wore this dress in the summer (see here), I already had visions in my head how I was going to style it for the cooler months. This looks was definitely one that I wanted to style once the weather permitted.

Colorful in Fall

Hi Lovies,

No matter what the season is, I always manage to keep a little bold color in my wardrobe. It helps when the weather gets really bad here in NYC and can brighten up your day. No don't get me wrong, I love my darker colors and earth tones for Fall/Winter but there's just something about a punch of color and a bold print that gets my motor running. Honestly, there are no rules to fashion and you can wear whatever makes you feel happy. This Adrianna Papell dress via Gwynnie Bee definitely falls into that category. The rich floral print is so fun and feminine, definitely an eye catcher. The vibrant colors are just beautiful and gives a romantic flare to the dress.

Olive

Hi Lovies,

The color Olive has hit the fashion scene by storm and has become this seasons trendiest color. It's popping up in almost everything these days and it seems people are totally here for it. It definitely compliments the season and totally screams fall. Considered a neutral color in my book, I knew that obtaining something in this color was a must. Being me, what better way to achieve this by getting a midi skirt in Olive from Fashion to Figure. I will admit this is a color that isn't normally in my wardrobe but since seeing it pop up in most of my favorite brands, it has grown on me. Not to mention my obsession with anything scuba material hasn't faltered. Besides the great color, this midi skirt is super flattering with the flared silhouette while still having some structure. It's effortlessly chic and elegant as well as midi skirt should be and is for sure going to be a repeat offender.

Falling for Fall

Hi Lovies,

As much as I am going to miss the summer, I have to say that I've been loving the fall fashions I've been seeing thus far. For someone who loves summer sure has a lot of jackets and coats, not to mention sweaters. This weekend the weather was lousy and definitely called for a cozy sweater and some jeans. Of course I had to put my own personal spin on this look, and this Fringe Sweater from Roaman's did the trick. It incorporated fringe and crotchet all in one, such a unique sweater with such character. It's warm enough for the cooler days but the short sleeve provides relief if you tend to get hot. It can be worn with a pencil skirt, slacks for work or with a fun pair of jeans like I did here. It's just an all around great layering piece for the Fall.

Checkered

Hi Lovies,

I love it when some of my favorite trends carry over from season to season. When purchasing clothes, I try to think about how versatile the item is and how much use am I going to get out of it. Of course I will have my occasional impulse buy but I am more cautious about my purchases. One of the trends that has definitely carried over to the fall is the Off The Shoulder. If you've been following my post from the spring/summer you know that I went a little crazy with this trend. Whether it be a top or a dress, I just had to have it. Now that fall is here, I was looking for something that was a little more NYC weather friendly and thank goodness Fullbeauty came through! This Off The Shoulder Tunic  for their Denim 24/7 line was just perfect for the season. The longer tie sleeve gave more coverage to the arm and the window pane print gave this such a classic touch. The tunic design and deep shirttail hem is so figure flattering, I love that you can wear this out or easily tuck it in a pair of pants or skirt. It's such a cute top, easy to wear and effortlessly chic.

Collegiate

Hi Lovies,

Fall is officially here and now that the weather is getting cooler, I can delve into my outerwear. One of my favorite things to wear are blazers. Next to moto jackets, blazers are another thing that I have an abundance in. I'm a huge fan of the preppy, private school look, and blazers are my favorite thing to achieve this with. I just love the effect that a blazer brings to an outfit, it can take something that is fancy and diffuse it to a more structured appearance. Or even do the opposite and add some edge to a casual t-shirt and jeans look. I'm all about colors and prints when it comes to my blazers, I try and stray from the traditional black. Color is a fun way to add some pizzazz to almost any outfit, so when Eloquii came out with their Quinn Blazer I knew I had to have it. There was so many components about this blazer that I loved, from the striped lining to the gold military buttons as well as the fun patch front pockets. Not to mention the beautiful green color that is such an eye catcher. This is definitely a great layering piece and a staple to have in your wardrobe.

Faux Leather and Suede

Hi Lovies!

This week is the week of leather, and I'm keeping this train rolling. If you missed my post from Monday (see here) I wore an awesome leather moto with chiffon. Today I am bringing you not only faux leather but faux suede as well. These are two fabrics that remain on trend season after season, you literally can't go wrong with either of them.  As you know, I finally tried out a pair of culottes and actually liked them. So why not go a step further and get another pair but in leather? This pair from Roaman's via Fullbeauty were definitely a hit. Such an edgy and sleek pair giving you that super chic look. What I love about these is how versatile they are, they are great right now for the fall temps that are approaching. The wide leg and elastic band make these extremely comfortable and easy to wear. I recommend everyone adding a pair to their wardrobe.

Leather and Chiffon

Hi Lovies,

It's safe to say that I am a moto jacket junkie. As crazy as that sounds my goal is to have one in every color of the rainbow. At the moment, I have quite a few in different styles, fabrics and colors but the one you can never have enough of is black. I know you must be thinking, "why have multiple of the same color?" Well a black moto is definitely a staple color to have in your wardrobe. It instantly add that perfect amount of edge to any look. But as generic as the color may be, not all are the same. It's the detail on the jacket that differentiates it from the next. When I saw this Moto with Chiffon from the Ashley Nell Tipton collection with JC Penney, I couldn't add it to my cart fast enough. This jacket was definitely in a class by itself with the flowing chiffon lower half and cropped length style. Besides the chiffon that was so unique for a moto jacket, the beautiful rose gold hardware is another. I've never come across a jacket with such well thought out detailing. This isn't an everyday jacket but it's great to have that special one that you can pull out of your arsenal and be a showstopper.

Lipstick

Hi Lovies,

As you know last week the Ashley Nell Tipton x JC Penney line launched (see here) and I couldn't be more please with it. I went a little crazy and order quite a few pieces from the collection. Like I said in my previous post, there is literally something for everyone in this collection. From super feminine to chic and edgy, it covers it all. Besides the awesome sequins bomber jacket, that was a fan favorite, I also fell in love with this Lipstick Print Skirt. You already know my obsession with skirts, so this was a def must have. The print was super cute and added a touch of whimsy the skirt. It was very comfortable with the scuba material and the fact that it had pockets took it to the next level of awesomeness. This is a piece that is seasonless and will be one of my transitional pieces for the Fall.
