SWAK Designs: Valentine's Date Night Style

Hi Lovies,

It's hard to believe that January is almost over, it went just as quickly as it came. Now February is knocking on our doors and it's bringing along all things Valentine's Day. Besides the usual chocolates, flowers and jewelry being advertised every where you look, there is also Valentine's Day style. So I was super excited to be collaborating with SWAK Designs and their Valentine's Day Date Look feature. We were asked to put date looks together using some of our favorite swak styles. It was very hard to choose which pieces I wanted to style, there was so many great pieces. But I finally made my choices and couldn't be happier with the looks I put together. Since Valentine's Day is on a Friday this year, I wanted to put together looks that you could wear to work and easily transition into a night out with that special someone. Hope you enjoy them!

SWAK Designs: The Kayla Dress

Hi Lovies!

Last month I had the pleasure of being gifted a few pieces from the contemporary plus size fashion brand SWAK Designs by the lovely Sarah Sapora. I've known about this brand for a while and have been coveting pieces but never purchased anything, so it was wonderful to receive 3 of their most popular pieces on the site. I immediately fell in love with each piece, but one of them was definitely out of my comfort zone and that was the Kayla Dress. It's a simple but lovely tank dress that leaves nothing to the imagination, if you know what I mean lol I normally don't wear anything clingy especially since I carry most of my weight in the middle, tummy area. I tried it on and was a wee bit uncomfortable due to it being form fitting, but I promised myself that I would take more risks this year and step out of my comfort zone as much as possible. So to challenge myself I decided to see how many looks I could get with one dress. Amazingly I came up with quite a few using pieces from my own closet and decided to showcase these three. I braved the cold weather Sunday and for the first time I used my tripod and little remote control to take my own pictures. Despite probably catching pneumonia, I think I did a great job for a first try!

Instagram Weekly Outfit Recap #1

Hey Lovies!

Hope every one's new year is starting off great! I'm going to start trying some new things on the blog this year and one of them is my Instagram Weekly Outfit Recap. Since I can't always get blog post up as often as I like, I keep my readers up on what I'm wearing via instagram with my daily outfit post. So every Monday I'll do a little recap on what I wore for the week. This week apparently I had leopard print on the brain since I wore it 4 times last week! Hey what can I say, I love leopard print! Enjoy!

Tapestry and Gold

Hi Lovies!

It's hard to believe that 2013 is about to be over, I have to say it was pretty great. I'm so looking forward to what 2014 has to offer and hope that I can continue to be blessed with all good things to come. Since the color gold seems to be synonymous with New Years, I decided that this outfit would be great to post as my last of 2013. The minute I saw this tapestry skater skirt on Forever 21, I knew I had to have it. The tapestry design and the quality of it was amazing. Not to mention it also has pockets, which in my book means everything! It immediately sold out on the website and has become very popular in the plus size blogisphere. I've worn it twice since I've had it, once with a cowl neck sweater and this time with my Gold sheer leopard print top, also from Forever 21. Since it was a cold day when I shot these photos I added my fav cropped blazer with gold trimming from Torrid. I threw on my Sam Edelman pumps, some gold earrings and called it a day!

Leopard on Leopard

Hi Lovies,

My obsession with leopard just seems to continue to grow and grow, I can't get enough of it. So of course when I saw this Leopard Print ASOS Curve Swing dress on Gwynnie Bee, I didn't hesitate to add it to my closet. This dress is just adorable, comfortable and the color just rocks! The first time I wore this dress I paired it with my spiked moto jacket from Forever 21 and loved the look. This time I figured why not add MORE leopard to this outfit and went with my Forever 21 Leopard Utility Jacket. I got this jacket on their big cyber Monday sale for practically nothing and it's awesome. It has a drawstring inside to cinch the waist and the print on it matched the dress perfectly without being too much. I added my Rampage Valorie boots to complete the look. What do ya think??

Foxy in Fur

Hi Lovies,

I have come to realize that every woman should own a fur coat/jacket, whether it be faux or real. I just think they are so elegant, eye catching and can turn any outfit you're wearing up a notch. I happened to score this fabulous Gallery Faux Sable Fur Jacket last year via Nordstrom online. I first saw this jacket on the beautiful Tanesha from Girl with Curves (see here) and I knew I had to have it. It's one of the warmest, softest jackets I've ever owned, I literally want to sleep in it. But amazingly, I've only worn it one other time (see here) and will be making it my business to wear it more often this winter.

Gwynnie Bee Holiday Preview Event

Hi Lovies!

I had the pleasure of being invited to the Gwynnie Bee Holiday Preview event and it was one of the best nights I had in a while! I took my fav blogger boo Jessica Torres from Tiny Red Shoes with me to join in the festivities and also to find out more about Gwynnie Bee.  The event was held at the gorgeous penthouse apartment of the CEO of Gwynnie Bee Christine Hunsicker. She was unfortunately sick that day and had hardly any voice but she had several GB members be hostesses for the evening, one of which was my blogger buddy Sarah from Curvily. The GB team made us totally feel at home and provided the guests with beverages and delicious treats. We also got a sneak peek at some of the new holiday styles that were going to be added to the GB website, as well as try them on. Plus we had the opportunity of being the first to add them to our closets before they hit the public so that was great!. If you follow my blog then you've heard  me speak about GB before but if you haven't, check out my post here about them.

The night was filled with amazing, empowering, and stylish women of all shapes and sizes, most of which were wearing something from GB which was great. It gave everyone a chance to see how some of the pieces fit on different shapes, heights etc.. After seeing some of the clothing on several women and how amazing they look, I immediately added them to my closet lol! They also set up a photo booth for the guests to take silly pics with tons of props and accessories. Me and Jessica had way too much fun in there! After mingling, trying on clothes, eat and drinking way too much wine, they had a few raffles (which I didn't win). They raffled off pretty baubles, GB hooded sweatshirts, and a GB Tote bag, but the grand prize was 3 free months of GB for a current member and new free trial member. But if that wasn't enough, the folks of GB ended the night by giving each and everyone of the guests an amazing door prize of a Jessica Howard Tie Waist Blouson Dress (see here in red)!! I felt like I was on the Oprah Winfrey show, I was so excited with my gift! It was an amazing night and I want to thank the Christine and the Gwynnie Bee team for inviting us to such a wonderful event. Here are my pics from that night...

MYNT 1792 In-store Launch at Blooingdale's

Hi Lovies,

Last week I attended the MYNT 1792 in-store launch at Bloomingdale's event which was hosted by none other than blogger extraordinaire Gabi Gregg of Gabifresh. It was great to be able to see the pieces in person instead of only on their online store. I love the company MYNT 1792 so much, their jackets, bottoms and amazing tops never fail to impress me. MYNT 1792 is a web only company so it's awesome that some of their pieces are now available at Bloomingdale's so you can actually try things on before purchasing anything. The pieces are located on the 5th floor along with all the other plus size designers and lines. Bloomingdale's isn't carrying their complete line but definitely have the essential and trendy pieces from their line. It was a fun mellow night hanging out with some great women as well as my fellow plus size bloggers. They had a DJ playing great music, Proseco and sparking water flowing, as well as a variety of delicious macaroons for the guests. I wore their Berlin Vest to the event that I got from Gwynnie Bee and I loved it. All of their clothing are made so well. Here are the rest of the pics from the event.
