Captivating in Coral

Hi Lovies!

When you're a shopaholic (like myself), you tend to forget what you have in your wardrobe due to the abundance of clothing you've accumulated. As I said in a previous post (see here), I recently swapped my winter wardrobe to summer and came across a bunch of dresses I forgot I had. This Lace and Tulle dress being one of them that I bought from ASOS last April. I have to admit I think I wore this dress only once since I bought it and I don't know why? The coral color is amazing and so vibrant, it just screams summer and the fact that it has both lace and tulle is an added plus.

Gold and Chiffon

Hi Lovies,

This past Sunday, I endured the grueling task of swapping my winter wardrobe to my summer wardrobe. It literally took almost all Sunday to do this but now that it's done I feel at ease. In the process of sorting out my clothes, I noticed that I've accumulated quite a few pieces in chiffon, mostly dresses. One of them, that I  totally forgot I had, is this ASOS Curve Twist Neck Skater Dress. I love this dress and all it's chiffon cuteness, loved it so much I also bought it in the Jade version (see here).

S.W.A.K! (Sealed With A Kiss)

Hi Lovies!

When I thought of skater skirts, I immediately would think "risque" due to the shortness of them. But it wasn't until I wore one in a previous post (see here) that I realized they are pretty hot! I get to show off my stems and it forces me to be body confident, which I know isn't easy for everyone. So yesterday I decided to go with my Forever 21 Lip Print Skirt that I scored off of eBay last year.

OUTFIT: Memorial Day BBQ

Hi Lovies,

If you live in NY, then you know this Memorial Day Weekend was not the greatest. Friday and Saturday felt more like October than May. But miraculously, Mother Nature cooperated and Monday was a picture perfect day! I attended my first BBQ of the year and I definitely indulged way too much. I ate and drank in abundance, to the point where I literally felt like I had to be rolled out of there lol! Just something about BBQ's, I tell ya :o) I kept my outfit comfortable and simple but still cute and stylish. I went with one of my favorite denim shirts and bandage skirt. I accented the outfit with gold accessories to go with the gold studding on the top and a pop of print with my leopard clutch and sandals.

Eshakti to me!

Hi Lovies!

I can't stress enough how much I love the site eShakti, I want every dress they have on the site! If you've never heard of them, they're a company that offers clothing from sizes 0-36 (which is awesome for us bigger gals!), and they even offer customization; you can change different elements about the clothing, or send in your measurements for a truly custom fit. When you first register for their site, they will send you a $25 off coupon for your first purchase. I was so excited and couldn't wait to use it. But then came the dilemma of what to pick! As much as I love color and prints, I figured I'd go with some thing simple that I can get more wear out of. So I went with the Retro Chambray Shirtdress (no surprise!).

Stripes and Denim

Hi Lovies!

Since my experience with wearing something not "plus size appropriate", I have been pushing myself to wear more things that "society" thinks plus size women shouldn't wear. When I wore that Wet Look Skater Skirt the other day (see post here), it was an eye opener. I couldn't believe how many people, mostly women, who were giving me the evil hater side eye. You would of thought that I was walking the street naked, and all I was showing was some leg...sheesh! Anyway, I digress, take this experience and turn it into something positive! Like STRIPES! Yes, you heard right! The old "plus size women shouldn't wear horizontal stripes" rule. That is absolute bull crap and to prove it, I had to go and wear my Striped Skater Dress.

Fashion Geek

Hi Lovies!

Being a plus size woman I never really experienced the looks some women get when they wear clothing that "society" thinks is inappropriate for us. I normally stay within my comfort zone, not because society wants me to but because it's just my style of dressing and what makes me feel comfortable. But lately I have been pushing myself to step out of my box and try new things. Saturday I decided to finally wear my ASOS Wet Look Skater Skirt. Now I wear skirts but this one was a bit shorter than what I normally wear. Nevertheless, I thought it was super cute and fun so I said screw it, I'm going to wear it!

MS Walk 2013

Hi Lovies!

My co-worker Rayna recently found out she has Multiple Sclerosis. MS is an inflammatory disease that affects the ability of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord to communicate with each other effectively. Nerve cells communicate by sending electrical signals called action potentials down long fibers called axons, which are contained within an insulating substance called myelin. In MS, the body's own immune system attacks and damages the myelin. When myelin is lost, the axons can no longer effectively conduct signals. Of course this came as a total shock to her. She's married with 2 young kids and is a very active person. This disease is definitely doing to change her lifestyle in many ways. She has been very vigorous about researching MS and has already started medication.

Our other co-worker Ashley thought it would be a good idea for us to do the MS Walk in her honor as a way to show our support for her. It's a 6 mile walk starting at the South Street Seaport, going over the Brooklyn Bridge, through part of Brooklyn and then back around to the seaport where the finish line is. We signed up and made a team called "Las Reinas" which means "The Queens" in Spanish  we also got t-shirts made with the team name. We managed to raise over $5,000 for the cause! It was a beautiful day and we had such a good time being together as a team and supporting one of our beloved co-workers. Here's a few pics from the day.

My Tutu and the Brooklyn Bridge

Hi Lovies!

If you're a girly girl like me, then you must squeal like a one when you hear the word "tutu". There's something so magical and whimsy about a tutu skirt. It brings me back to my childhood days when all I wanted to be was a princess. I've been searching for the perfect tutu for a while and saw a few out there in the blogisphere but nothing that caught my eye. Until I saw the one that the fabulous Kim from the blog The Natural Fashionista was wearing. I knew right when I saw it that that was the one I wanted!
